The buzzing sound of my alarm clock woke me up. I opened my eyes and squinted when the sunlight hit my eyes. I fell asleep on the window seat.

Glancing at the clock and noting that it was 6 a.m. I lazily got up and made my way to the wardrobe. I pulled out a pair of faded out grey jeans and pulled them on. I then found a purple long sleeved shirt, that I decided I'd wear today and of course my Doc Martins. I brushed my hair and added some make up. Eye-liner, mascara and a dark purple lipstick. Most people don't know this but I have snake piercings and today I decided to show it. So I placed two silver studs into my lips. Quickly grabbing my bag and going down stairs, I'm greeted by Eva and her cooking. I decided to skip breakfast and was half way out the door, when someone hoisted me up.

"You didn't come down for dinner Eve." Owen said. "You should at least have breakfast."

He placed me down on the stool and the twins sat on both of my sides.

"We'll drive you to school." Kayden said.

"It's not like we aren't going there as well..." Dexter muttered.

The twins failed a grade and got held back, so they are finally in their last year, while I'm a second year. Fun. With a sigh I took the plate with bacon and eggs and started munching on the food. I resembled a squirrel but I don't care, it's simply the way I eat.

"Did I mention I hate high school?" Dexter asked, as we were being eyed by half of the students.

"Dude. Everybody hates high school." Kayden snorted.

We already picked up our schedule and were currently searching for our lockers. I found mine shortly after and bid goodbye to my brothers. We'd see each other at lunch. As I was going through my bag a presence behind me caught my attention. I peeked behind me to see the blonde girl from the creative store and a guy next to her.

"Hi!" She said happily.

I turned around to face her and the boy, noticing he was wearing a jacket with this schools mascot. A rooster.

"Hey..." I said awkwardly.

"My name is Kylie. Kylie Jenkins." She said and shook my hand. "And this is Merlin Foster."

"I'm Eve Terrence." I nodded to the boy who did the same.

He had ash blonde hair and brown eyes. He looked like a jock, which I'm guessing he is, but why was he even talking to me? In my old school kids tended to avoid me, like most of them here.

"We know. We're your welcoming comity." Merlin said with a smirk.

"Come on. You have the same schedule as me." Kylie said and grabbed my arm. "Our first class is Geography. We're gonna have so much fun."

Kylie proceeded to drag me with her, while Merlin waved us goodbye and went to English. I'm a bit terrified to spend my whole day with this hipper child.

"Come on Eve, it's a cute diner where everyone hangs out." Kylie urged me. "Please."

The begging look in her eyes suggested that she doesn't have many friends, plus these kids here haven't actually learned the art of whispering. Merlin was her only friend and today she would gain another one, because as hard as it is to admit it, her chirpiness grew on me.

"Fine, but your giving me a ride home." I said in defeat.

She jumped in joy and guided me to her car. I was greeted by the sight of a red 1957 Chevy Bel Air, in quite the good shape. I nodded in approval when Kylie turned to look at my expression. We got in and she started the car and pulled out the parking lot.

The ride was silent and comfortable. After 20 minutes of driving, more or less, Kylie parked in front of an old fashioned diner. I saw a few cheerleaders and jocks outside and Merlin, who happily waved us over towards him.

"Hey guys." He greeted and so did we.

While I texted Eva, telling her where I am and that I'd probably be late home, I heard some shuffling and grunting. I sent the text and looked up to see Kylie looking at me sadly.

"Eve, this is Jack." Merlin said, rolling his eyes in the process. "Jack, Eve."

"I would never have thought I'd meet such a beautiful emo girl." Jack said.

"Did you just call me emo?" I asked him.

Kylie gripped my arm, signalizing me to let it go and move.

"Sorry sweetheart but-"

"Save it for somebody who cares." I said and turned to follow Merlin and Kylie. "Oh, and don't ever call me sweetheart again."

I entered the diner grumpy, but my mood changed quickly when I smelled the food. Kylie guided me to a both in the corner by the window and the three of us sat down.

"You are the first person ever to not be swayed by Jack." Kylie told me wide eyed.

"I'm not a big fan of jocks. No offense Merlin." I shrugged.

"None taken."

"Hey guys, what can I get 'ya?" A waitress asked and got our attention.

It was a beautiful girl, with pale blonde hair, big blue doll like eyes and full ruby red lips. Her hair was tied in pigtails and the lace choker did not go unnoticed.

"Hey Alicia, we'll get the usual." Kylie chirped.

"Oki-dok." Then her attention turned to me and she gasped. "Oh my, I'm sorry. My name is Alicia Wilkins. Welcome to our peachy town."

"Eve Terrance. You know, your the first person that welcomed me to this town." I said, a hint of a smile playing on my lips.

"Really? Well I'm glad." She smiled big, showing of her perfectly straight teeth and piercing. "Let me guess? Black coffee with a blueberry cake?"

"Alicia I think you possibly have the gift of mind reading." I smiled and she beamed in joy.

She skipped off and Merlin watched me closely.

"You know Alicia is the goth kid in our school and is pretty much bullied every day. This is the first time I've seen her smile truly." Merlin said.

"Would you believe me that I was her last year?" I asked and they shook their heads. "Well believe it or not, I used to be a goth kid. I still am, but I've learned to cope with the bullies and such."

Alicia walked back with our orders and her eyes gleamed with joy when she looked out the window. Curious, I followed her gaze to see a group of kids dressed in all black walking towards the diner.

Their leader, the mystery boy who's been bugging my thoughts.
