Girl Meets The Father

"Maya.. What are you doing here?" A southern accent asked me. Oh no. Its him! I quickly took the photo and but it into my back pocket.

"Lucas uh hi I didnt see you there. What are you doing here?" I said nervously

"Hi..? I was just getting a sports physical" What was that?" He asked

"what?" I asked

"That piece of paper? Are you okay?"

"Oh yeah I'm fine!"

"Oh then what are you doing here?"

"I'm uh just picking up something for my mom."

"Oh okay well I'll see ya-"

"Hey Maya! How did it go?" I heard a voice say. I turned around to see Chloe. No No.

"Oh hi. I'm Chloe. Maya and I just met." Chloe said reaching her hand towards Lucas.

"Hi I'm Lucas. Maya friend. Congratulations." He said motioning to Chloe's stomach.

"Thank you but the one you should be congratulating is Maya." Chloe said. My eyes nearly popped out of my head they went so wide.

"What do you me-" Lucas started

"Okay Chloe well why dont I walk you out" I said

"Maya. No." Lucas said

"I better be going. Ill text you." Chloe said

Great now Lucas knows something and I'm here alone with him. I stared down at my shoes waiting for him to say something.

"Maya what did she mean by that?"

"Nothing!"

"Are you sure? I mean you just met her so that means you had to be in the obstetrics office and thats for.. wait Maya are you pregnant?" He asked

Oh my god this isnt happening this all just a nightmare. Please wake up Maya. Yea.. nope this is real.

"Look I dont want to talk about this here." I said thinking that was a good response that didnt give anything away. Clearly I was wrong when he said quite loudly..

"Oh my god you are!"

"Lucas please. Just.. uh.. Come to my place at 7 and ill explain. okay?"

"Okay"

I walked out of the hospital. I was extremely nervous! Why do I have to tell him! Ugh.. My thoughts were interrupted by my phone ringing. Oh my god please dont be Lucas. Thankfully it was Chloe. I should be mad at her but she didnt know.

"Oh my god Maya I shouldnt have said anything. He probably didnt know and he might of been the father and oh my god I probably ruined everything for you. Im so sorry."

"Chloe, Its okay! Yes that was the father but he still doesnt know. Im not mad or anything but I do need some advice on how to tell him. He kinda already knows but i dont know."

"Just be honest Maya and if he needs time to think about things give him time."

"Thanks Chloe. I have to go."

"Bye" she said and I hung up.

I walked into my apartment building. I grabbed the photo of my baby and placed it on the table. I went into my room to change into more comfortable clothes. I sat on the couch and played on my phone until I heard a doorbell. I got up and opened the door to see Lucas. I gave him a slight smile that he didnt return. I gave him a gesture to come in and he did. He had a look of concern on his face. Before I could say anything he turned to me and said

"Was I right? Are you pregnant?"

I sighed and turned to look at him

"Yes. You're right. I'm pregnant. And its your baby." I said

He looked at me with a blank look on his face. I dont know what he is feeling.

"You were the only one I've ever.. yanno.."

I left him sitting on the couch and went to grab the sonogram picture.

"Lucas please say something"

"I'm gonna be a dad."

"And how does that make you feel?" I asked not sure if I wanted to hear the answer.

"Shocked, Nervous and Happy."

"Happy? You're not mad? You're not gonna walk out and leave me to do this alone?"

"Maya I would never do that to you. This is my baby too and I want to be apart of its life. And no matter if we decide to keep him or her or give them up for adoption I will be by your side."

I smiled at him.

"Thank you." I said looking up at him. I handed him the sonogram picture. I looked at his face to see a smile spread across it. He turned to look at me and I smiled. He eyes were locked on mine and I felt his warm hand find my stomach. I placed my hand on top of his and smiled.

"Our baby" he said

"Our baby" I said

We stayed like this for a couple of minutes before we went back to reality.

"So who else knows?" He asked

"Just you. And I kinda want to keep it like that for a little bit"

"What about Riley? And Farkle? How are we supposed to hide it from them?"

"I dont know but I want to hide it as long as I can."

"Whatever you want" he said and kissed my head.

I placed my head on his chest and he put his hand on my stomach. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep with a smile on my face.
