Girl Meets Hiccups

The next morning I woke up and after eating breakfast Riley drove me home. I thanked her for everything and walked in. I walked into ths bedroom Lucas and I share and saw that most of Lucas things are still here. I decided since no one else is going to help me that I should start working on the nursery.

I walked into the nursery and saw that it was completely finished. I was shocked. The walls were painted pink with the crib, changing table and rocking chair built. The dresser was built and fulled with baby clothes. Everything was so beautiful and perfect. I walked over and looked at all the little onesies and toys laying out on the changing table. It so crazy to think that in 3 months my little girl will be here. After looking through everything I began to cry. Everything is so perfect.

"Do you like it?" A voice asked. I turned around to see Lucas. He was standing in white t-shirt that had pink paint all over it and jeans. He was clearly very tired because there was even paint on his face.

"You did all of this?" I asked playing with a baby toy as I turned to him.

"You wanted me to prove to you that I can be trusted and that I'm not gonna leave. I want her. I want you. I want us to be a little family. This is just the beginning of things. I am going to do everything I can to be the best dad for our daughter." Lucas said walking towards me. I am so impressed and happy. Lucas finished the nursery. It is clear to me now that Lucas is genuine and sincere and will be here for his daughter. I couldnt help but stare at him. How did I get so lucky to have him?

Without saying a word I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head in his chest.

"I love you." I said quietly.

"I love you too." He responded as he stroked my hair. In that moment this was all I needed. In a few months I'll have a baby and I will be a mom. Right now in this exact moment. I am calm. I am still and I am happy.

We pulled apart and I pecked his lips. I've missed him so much. Even though we only fought for about 2 days it feels like forever since I've kissed him.

"Come home Lucas. Come home with me and your daughter." I said. He laughed

"What so funny?" I asked upset.

"Sweetie, we are home. and I'm never leaving." He said. I smiled as he pulled me in for a kiss.

As we pulled apart we explored the nursery together and talked about what its going to be like when we have a baby.

32 weeks pregnant.

Its been about two weeks since Lucas and I had our fight but ever since we made up he has been amazing. He is doing everything he possibly can to prepare for the baby.

As far as the baby goes, she has been moving non-stop. Shes kicking like crazy.

"Baby girl please calm down." I said as I tried to finish some homework. The baby is kicking but its in a rhymic pattern so it never stops and is very painful. I only have about 3 weeks left of school because my doctor says the baby can come anytime after 36 weeks.

"Maya are you okay?" Lucas asked as he walked into the room. Another kick came and I placed my hand on my stomach as I winced in pain.

"Yea, shes just kicking really hard... I think." I said

"You think shes kicking?" Lucas asked worriedly

"Well it feels like really hard kicks but in a rhymic pattern." I said and another kick came.

"This isnt normal Lucas. Something just doesn't feel right." I said

"Well it isnt contractions is it? You arent going into labor are you?" Lucas asked

"I dont think so but I think we should go to the doctor just incase."I said getting up and grabbing my shoes and coat. Lucas grabbed his keys and we went to the doctors.

On the car ride there the pain started to decrease but it was still happening in the pattern. We arrived at the doctors and were admitted to a room. As I laid on the examination table bed thing I started to worry. Lucas came over and grabbed my hand.

"Maya if this it and you are going into labor I want you to know what everything is going to be okay and I will be right by your side holding your hand every step of the way, okay?" Lucas said in a serious tone

"There will be no need for the right now Mr.Friar. You're not going into labor." The doctor said as Lucas helped me sit up.

"The baby just had the hiccups and thats what caused the pain and discomfort." The doctor said. I took a sigh of relief.

"Thank you so much Doctor." Lucas said and shook the doctors hand. The doctor left the room and Lucas looked at me.

"Listen little girl you almost gave me a heart attack. I thought you were coming today and I am not ready for you yet. You have to stay him there and grow a little longer you hear me?" Lucas said sternly talking to my baby bump as he placed his hands on both sides. I started to laugh. He is going to be such an amazing dad. I cant wait. He said I love you and kissed my baby. He then helped me off the bed thingy and we walked out of the doctors office hand and hand.

"I'm serious I thought I was gonna have to ground her before she came out of the womb." He said sternly and in all seriousness. I giggled and leaded him to the car.

"C'mon tough guy lets go home. Its clear you've had a long day."

All I could think about for the rest of night was how amazing of dad Lucas is going to be. And I cant wait to see him with our little girl when she gets here.
