Girl Meets School

I walked into school and I was really nervous. I dont know why because no one could tell I was pregnant by looking at me. Lucas must have sensed that I was nervous because he grabbed my hand and smiled at me. I took a deep breath and walked in. I saw Riley and Farkle at Rileys locker. They looked so in love. Oh! I forgot to mention Farkle and Riley started dating last month. Lucas and I still holding hands walked over to them.

"Hey guys." Lucas said

"What is that?" Riley said

"What is what? There nothing going on with me I'm fine." I said really fast. Lucas squeezed my hand and I took it as sign to calm down.

"Uh I was just wondering why you guys are holding hands. Are you guys like a thing?" Riley said

"Oh well yeah." I said smiling up at Lucas

Before the conversation could continue the bell rang and we all went into Mr.Matthews class. I took my seat in front of Lucas.

"Mistakes. Some times they arent always bad. But good or bad we can learn from them. There is always a lesson to learn when making a mistake no matter how big or how small."

I stirred in my seat. Is there a way Mr.Matthews knows about my pregnancy? He cant. I havent told anyone but Lucas. I know he doesnt know but I feel like this is what todays lesson is about.

After listening to Mr.Matthews for 45 minutes talking about mistakes the bell finally rang.

"Hey Riles I'll catch up with you later." I said and she gave me a confused look.

I walked over to Lucas and grabbed onto his arm.

"Do you think Mr.Matthews knows about the baby?" I asked

"How could he. We havent told anyone!" He responded

"I know but I just felt like the lesson was directed toward my pregnancy. plus did you see the way he was staring at me. It was like I was the only one in room.."

"Babe I think your seeing things. And youre stressing out over everyone finding out about the pregnancy. Maybe we should tell everyone."

"No. I'll be fine" The bell rang and I gave Lucas a kiss on the cheek before going to my next class.

Class after class all I could think about Mr.Matthews lesson. Finally the day was over and I could go home. I was at my locker packing my bag and waiting for Lucas when Mr.Matthews walked up.

"Maya can I speak to you in my classroom?"

"Um.. sure."

I walked into Mr.Matthews classroom and sat at my desk.

"Maya I'm going to be completely straight forward. I may be crossing the line as your teacher but as your father figure I think I have the right to ask you.. Are you pregnant?"

The question completely shocked me. How does he know? Am I already showing? Who else knows?

"Maya"

"Yes. I'm pregnant"

He looked disappointed. He looks like he couldnt believe it was true. I started to cry. Mr.Matthews was the closest thing I've had to a father, except for Shawn, and to see him so disappointed in me broke me. I couldnt handle it.

"Maya." I heard a voice but it wasnt Mr.Matthews. I looked up to see Lucas. As soon as he noticed I was crying he ran to me.

"Maya, Mr.Matthews what happened?" Lucas asked

"He knows." I said

"You. You must be the father?" Mr.Matthews asked Lucas. Lucas nervously nodded his head yes.

"I'll deal with you later." Mr.Matthews said. I looked down and cried.

I lifted my head. "Im sorry!" I cried

Mr.Matthews came to hug me. "Im sorry." I said again.

"I know you are. And although I am disappointed in you. I will never stop loving you like my own child. I will be here for you." He said and I cried harder

"Thank you."

I pulled away from the hug and walked towards Lucas.

"Wait, how did you know about the pregnancy?" I asked him

"You mom called and told me." He said

"MY MOTHER KNOWS?" I screamed. Mr.Matthews looked frightened and Lucas looked worried.

"Lucas. I..I have to go." I said

"And Mr.Matthews.. please dont tell anyone." I said and quickly saw him shake his head as I ran home
