Chapter 32

-3rd POV-

"H-He's dead...!" Arthur said.

"What?!" Woodley exclaimed.

"No..." Irene put her hands to cover her mouth.

Charles Grey furrowed his brows.

"What was with that voice jus...Whoa!" Bard said, as he and the other two servants came in.

"I-Is this man dead?!" Finny said, walking up.

"Yes..." The oculist muttered, "The hemorrhage from the chest wound was most likely fatal. I can't be certain because of how dark it is, but—" 

Bard wiped his forehead, "Hey." He turned to the butler, "Ain't this room kinda hot?"

"Yes, it is." Sebastian looked at him, "I had heated up the room in advance, but...perhaps he felt a chill."

"I say, what on earth is the meaning of all this racket?" Ciel walked in, rubbing his eye.

(Y/n) yawned, covering her mouth, "We heard a yell..." She said.

Malleus nodded, as Tanaka walked behind the three with a candle holder in his hand.

"Young master, lady and lord Draconia." Sebastian said.

The Ciel's eye widen, "Lord Siemens...!" He said.

The twins eyes widen in shock, since they never really saw a dead person in front of them. They grew within the palace, only ever going out to visit Lilia, Silver and Sebek.

"I-In any case, let's just leave things untouched as they are until the yard gets re—" Grimsby was cut off.

"No. We should move the corpse right away." The chef cut in, making them all look at him.

"Eh?" Finny said.

"I don't wanna put it like this, but flesh rots faster than you might think. Even if we douse the fire now, the corpse'll go right off if it's kept by the hearth."

"Flesh...rots, you say..." Irene started to sway.

"Irene!" Grimby caught her.

"He's right." Arthur looked at them, "I also believe that we should place the corpse in a cool, dark place until the experts can examine it."

"Then let us relocate him to the cellar until the gentlemen of the yard arrive." Sebastian said, turning, "Finny, bring us a cot."

The said male ran off, "Right!" He said.

Ciel grabbed (Y/n)'s hand and with the other he grabbed Malleus's hand, squeezing them in comfort as they waited for the gardener.

"Ah!"

Sebastian turned to the blonde female, "Miss Diaz?"

"When we arrived at the door to this room, it was locked, wasn't it?" She said, turning to the maid.

Mey-Rin realized, "Now that you mention it, you're right, miss. It was."

"Then someone could have entered the room from a window, and after locking the door to stall for time, escaped the same way they came, couldn't they?"

"But wouldn't you expect there to be footprints if someone came in from out of this downpour?" Grey went over to the glass door, giving it a shake, "And let's not forget, this room is on the second floor. The window's locked too."

"Then somebody locked the door from the corridor and then ran off after all..." Grimsby said.

"That is impossible." The butler cut in, making them all turn to them, seeing him holding up a key, "The keys in this manor all belong to warded locks from when the manor was first built. The keys themselves are of very complicated make, so without a master locksmith on hand, duplicating them is implausible."
