The next morning, Luke woke up with a killer headache, and the feeling of forgetfulness and loneliness. He tries to make sense of it. It felt as if he got drunk and this was a hangover, yet Luke had never had a drink in his life, unless one beer counts. Luke is a crazy kid.
The feeling of family was know taken away from him, and it put him on edge. Even though Ashton was lying next to him, he wasn't comfortable. He didn't know what was wrong. He has always had a family, a perfect one. Two older brothers, a mom, a dad. They were pretty rich, safe, well lived. What happened? Luke wished he knew.
He could feel Ashton moving, and soon Ashton's eyes open and he pulls Luke into his arms. "Good morning Luke. Did you have sweet dreams?" Truly, Luke had terrible dreams. He was ripped away from his family, to be made... perfect., like a doll. It seemed so real, but he nods anyway, not wanting to tell him.
"Yeah, what 'bout you?' Ashton shrugs.
"I don't remember dreams often..." Ashton kisses Luke's hair, "But I know it was about you."
"Hm," Luke tries to relax. Ashton had his lips pressed to Luke's forehead which seemed to calm him.
"You good, babe?" Luke nods. "Alright, you want to hear what I remember of my dream?" Luke's head perks up. "So, we knew each other since we were, like, fourteen, and we were all friends with Calum and Michael. You of course, were three years younger, and we had a plan of starting a band, even though I can't play anything. We were going to be famous."
"Sounds wonderful." Ashton kisses Luke's shoulder. Then all the sudden Luke's heart rate sped up, and everything seemed... different. Uncomfortable, and wearily, he gets out of bed and rushes into Michael's room because he really needed to talk to him. He doesn't even knock, he just felt so dizzy and- Michael was cuddling Calum in the bed, obviously naked. His eyes widen.
Calum soon notices Luke's presence and throws a pillow at him. "Get out of here, Luke!" The look of worry and sadness fills Luke's face, and Calum knew that face, that was the face of a person that is about to have a serious panic attack. He recognized the face from Ashton. "You know, never mind." Calum grabs his boxers, which smelt terrible, but he quickly put them on, running out of the room, where a groggy Michael still laid. Luke shuts the door, locking it, and then starts to cry. It wasn't just a small cry, he was sobbing.
Michael goes over and sits with Luke, not caring if Luke saw his junk. He looks so sad, and Michael was confused what led up to this. Did him and Ashton fight or something? Probably not, Michael concludes.
"I-I'm alone...WHY DO I FEEL THIS WAY, MIKE? I just want to go home." Luke screams, tugging at his hair. "I bet it's all because of this stupid Build-A-Boy thing. Look it up! See if you can find anything." Michael reluctantly look it up, seeing nothing pop up expect for one news article. It was dated three years ago, around the time Luke's life became a big blur.
1000 Orphaned Boys, ages 14-19 from around the Sydney Area Found Missing. 5 Found Dead.
Michael remembered when this happened. His mom was so worried about the boys. Luke's mouth gaped. He wasn't an orphan, he has a family. Doesn't he? Luke grabs Michael's phone, looking up more articles about the subject. He almost bursted out crying when he saw a photo of a boy that looked like him.
"Luke, what is going on?" Michael asks, Luke was speechless. Why did he think he had a family, when he didn't. He didn't remember being an orphan, but the boy looked exactly like him. It is him, he was wearing one of Luke's old favorite shirts.
"I-I d-don't know... But I think the boys that went missing, are the boys used for the B-Build -A-Boy thing, and I think that's me." Luke shakily points to the photo, "I don't remember it though, and I'm pretty sure I have a family. M-My brothers are named- What are their names?" Luke grabs his head, was he going crazy? He couldn't remember anything about his family, it's like they didn't excited in Luke's mind anymore.
"LUKE! YOU IN THERE?" Ashton asks frantically knocking on the door.
"Yeah," Luke sniffles, wiping his red eyes. "Just talking with Mikey, be out in a few minutes, but could you make me something to eat please, sweetheart?" Ashton groans, but hears footsteps walking away.
"Explain, now." Michael says.
"Well if you ask nicely, Calum would probably do stuff for you too." Michael shakes his head.
"No, about, well everything. Why do you think that? What is going on?" Luke sighs.
"I don't know! Everything after the day I turned sixteen is completely a blur. I don't remember it."
"What happened on you sixteenth birthday?" Luke gives him a weird look, he tries to think back, but it was like finding an old artifact, he had to blow off all the dust on it.
"My mom finally let my friends come over, and we watched some movies, and ate cheese curls and pizza." Luke says, that's all he could remember.
"What were your friends names?" Luke shrugs. Trying to remember. A sudden wave of memory hit him.
It was from that night. Luke was sitting with his three older friends, he had a beer in his hand. They were all laughing at the terrible movie they were watching.
"Yo, dude, is this all your doing for your sixteenth birthday?" One boy asks.
"Yeah, i told you, people don't exactly like me Michael." Luke says,
"We like you," The brown haired boy says. throwing an arm around the young boy.
"Yeah, but I mean someone my age." The only reason Luke knew these boys was because they constantly used to babysit him because they loved Luke, and to them, Luke was still that little boy.
"Hey, we are still cool right, Cal?" Calum nods, answering Ashton's question. Ashton smiles at the birthday boy, as he takes his first sip of beer. Luke's face scrunches up, hating the taste.
"That's nasty." Luke says, putting the beer on the table.
"So how does it feel to be sixteen?" Luke shrugs.
"What did you wish for when you blew out your candles?" It was a weird question for someone to ask, but Luke didn't believe in the whole, make a wish and if you tell someone it won't come true thing.
"For a boyfriend...I'm gay." Calum pulls the boy into his arms.
"So is Ash," Luke smiles at the boy, Ashton lets out a small laugh.
"LUKE! What were their names?" Luke quickly gets out of the trance, and stands up, walking to the corner away from Michael. "Sorry, is everything okay?"
"No! NO! Why? How?" Michael looks at the boy confused. "YYou, and Cal, and Ash, you guys were my friends."
"What?!"
