After staring at me for a few seconds, in what appeared to be pure loathing in their creepy soul-shattering eyes, the filthy demons went back to what they were doing, which included casually drowning over a dozen bottles of ancient beer.
Hmm, I would imagine that demons do indeed have a high alcohol tolerance. Heck, it's probably their holy grail...I know...ironic that I'm using the term holy grail. But you get what I mean.
I went right up to the counter, where I came across a plump, light blonde haired woman in about her late 50's making a concoction of some sort. She was of average height, had bright aqua blue eyes, gray streaks in her hair evident of age, and on top of that, she wore HellFire Bar's signature uniform. The uniform consisted of a black t-shirt with the logo "HELLFIRE BAR" in blood red, on top of a pretty sick fire design. The woman also wore black pants, and upon tiptoeing and glancing over the top of the counter, I observed that she sported black dress shoes as well.
The woman raised an eyebrow, clearly weirded out by me observing her. But I mean I need to give you readers a description, right?
*Cough, cough*
*Yes, I know I break the fourth wall*
*I swear that won't happen again, ha ha ha*
"Hey!" I greeted her, perhaps a bit too cheerfully.
"Hello," she replied, courtly, wiping an empty glass with a dark red cloth. "Anything I can get you, sweetie? Whiskey? Wine? The Wedding's Warlock Wonder?"
"No," I replied back. "I'm here for the position of a bartender."
"Oh," shock momentarily enveloped her face before it turned serious again.
She beckoned her finger for me to come closer. So I did.
"Well honey, I'll let you in on a little secret," she whispered, "this place? It's no good." She shuddered. "No good for pretty young things like yourself. Lust-filled men come in here, you know."
"Then they scan their sex obsessed eyes around the bar, for prey to find," she continued, her voice wavering slightly.
The old woman then scanned me up and down. "Honey, don't take this the wrong way but your body practically screams 'prey'".
"Trust me, I can handle those men just fine...Miss...ugh..."
"Darla. Darla Evergreen." The woman informed me, smiling slightly. "It's so easy to say I can handle a situation just fine unless you're faced with it. Words mean nothing if the actions can't back it up."
I nodded mindlessly.
"Seriously darling, this bar really does have a lot of insane fools addicted to the art of flirting."
At that moment, Gruff strolled in.
"Rave—" his breathing stopped (not literally, of course) as he caught a glimpse of Darla. "Say...who is this fine babe?" He whistled.
Ooooh...
Gruff, the incompetent klutz, was in love.
He stared dreamily at Darla.
She just stared back, disgusted.
Darla then turned her attention to me.
"Mr. Hyde's in his office, at the end of this hall." Darla pointed to the rusty double doors behind her. "His name's on the door, so it shouldn't be too hard to miss. You can meet him there and he'll tell you what to do."
I nodded, and as I walked off, I heard some of Gruff's failed attempts at flirting as well as Darla's "give me a break. I'd rather die than date you, prickface."
