*Artie's P.O.V*
I paced back and forth in my office as I considered all the ways that I could bring down my douchebag of a father. I knew I needed to act fast because it was only time before Richie struck again.
Who knows who else he is planning to tear to shreds?
I shuddered at the thought.
I discarded a bunch of toy guns onto my desk.
Instead, I would bring a tranquilizer with me, as well as lethal weapons. I'd rather not shoot my father to death even if he harbors murderous tendencies.
At that moment, the chief of police strolled in.
"What the—?" His eyes widened as he gazed at the pile of toy guns on my desk. "Fuck."
I quickly swiped at the pile, letting them fall off on the other side of the desk. The side that the chief couldn't see, in case it isn't obvious.
He smoothed out his extremely wrinkly shirt. "You know what, I'm just going to fucking pretend I didn't see that, otherwise I will lose it, take out my gun and fire bullets into your useless head."
Next, he cleared his throat and spun around. "I want you to meet a new hire. This is Rosie Jackson, your partner. Even though she just joined the force, she's more experienced than you and will be the leader of all your operations. I also have a new recruit to partner up with Rosie on standby in case you die in some shootout. But knowing you, you'll probably survive. God, you're like a cockroach. You just keep coming back...ugh..."
"That's really unwarranted." Rosie informed him, repulsed.
"Oh trust me honey, after you spend time with him, you'll feel the same way." The chief replied, emotionlessly. "OK, see ya Rosie and hopefully sayonara, idiot."
The chief stormed out of the room.
My attention turned to Rosie.
She was insanely beautiful, based on just one physical trait. Even though she had generic hazel eyes, was boringly slim, and of average height like a plain Jane, her hair was dyed ruby red. It stood out like a stop sign, grabbing your attention. I wanted to...I wanted to...ask her where she bought the dye from, because I'm also interested in buying it.
"Hey," she waved. "What's your name? I never got it."
"Arthur Prince. But you can just call me Artie."
"Cool. Look Artie, I think we should go on patrol—"
"My dad's a werewolf, and I need to bring him down. I could use your help." I blurted out and then added on, "also, what products do you use for your hair?"
"Wow," Rosie was stunned for a few seconds. Then she burst out laughing.
"Oh my god, are you serious? Your dad's a werewolf? Mine's a vampire," she declared.
"OK...so then I guess we can bring down both our fathers?"
Rosie's brows furrowed. "Umm, I was being sarcastic, fool. Artie, supernatural creatures...they don't exist. They're just made up things created by the human mind. Stop being a weirdo."
"I'm serious," I insisted. "If you come with me, you'll see."
Rosie crossed her arms, appearing to be annoyed. "Fine, whatever, I'll amuse you. We'll go to where your dad is and you'll see he's clearly not a werewolf. Probably just a very normal hairy man."
