((two weeks later? I do time skips a lot sorry lol))
"You think it looks good?" I asked, 100% completely totally unsure of myself as I stared at my reflection in the mirror of some hat store at the mall. A black fedora was sat on top of my head, and I just couldn't decide if it looked good on me or not.
Pete came into view almost immediately, meeting my eyes through the mirror. I sucked in a breath when he rested his hand on my shoulder, waiting for his approval.
"Are you kidding?" He laughed, and for a second, I was scared he thought I looked absolutely stupid. "That looks amazing!" He suddenly said rather loudly, and I couldn't help but smile. I guess it did look good.
"You have to get that one. Try this one, though." He said, disappearing for a second. He returned momentarily, holding a fedora that looked almost identical to the one I was wearing, only it looked more grayish.
He took it upon himself to remove the hat from my head, and replace it with the gray one. Almost immediately a wolfish grin overtook his face, and honestly, it was contagious.
"That ones my favorite." He said in a low voice, and I had to suck in another deep breath because damn. Just damn.
"I like this one too." I said, turning a little bit to get a side view of the hat. It really did look quite fantastic in my opinion.
"Awesome." He said, the grin still on his face. "Let's go pay."
I trailed behind him, hats in hand to the register. I was about to reach into my pocket to pull out my wallet, but he wrapped his hand around my wrist, stopping me. I glanced at his hand, and then moved my eyes up to catch his glance. He was smiling.
"I got it." He said. I was about to protest, but he had already handed the woman behind the desk the money to pay for the hats. She handed Pete the bag with my hats in it, but he only handed it to me. I smiled and thanked her before I followed Pete out of the store, down the rest of the mall.
"You didn't have to do that." I said, glancing over at him. I turned back when I noticed he didn't look at me, and kept walking.
"Don't mention it. Those hats really do look great." He said with a smile, which I returned. We walked for a bit, playfully bumping shoulders until we came across a Starbucks.
"Oh, we have so got to get some coffee!" I said, nodding my head towards the small shop excitedly. "But you've got to let me pay." I added quickly.
He laughed for a second before nodding. "If you insist."
Right after he agreed to letting me pay, I gripped his wrist and all but dragged him into the store, as if I was child dragging their parent into a candy shop. I earned ourselves a few glances, but I didn't care.
He laughed soundly, and I was absolutely certain it was a sound I would never get tired of hearing.
To my surprise, Starbucks wasn't that crowded. Usually, Starbucks was overflowing with people of all sorts, but strangely enough, there were probably only four other people, not including Pete and myself.
We walked up to the woman who made the coffees, only having to wait in line for about three minutes. Those three minutes passed quickly, and before I knew it, we were ordering.
"Vanilla Bean Latte, please." I ordered with a smile, turning to glance at Pete. He was staring at the menu with wide eyes, looking completely and utterly lost. A few seconds later, he realized I was staring at him and turned an extremely violent shade of red.
"I uh, what he said. I want that too. Yeah." He said awkwardly.
I shot him a confused glance, but brushed it off quickly, stepping to the side while the woman prepared our coffees. When she handed the made coffees to us, I payed quickly, and this time he followed me out.
