"And yeah, I think you're pretty cool, like cool and stuff, ya know? I like cool people. Like, I wanna date you. Date as in boyfriends. If that's cool with you, of course." I eventually, gave up, staring at myself in my bedroom mirror.
Pete and I had been seeing each other for about three weeks now, which means we've known each other for about a month and a half, and I was pretty certain that I most definitely wanted to be his boyfriend. I hadn't asked anyone out before, like ever, so I didn't exactly know how to do this.
I was about to start up the practice again, trying a different route, when a loud knock startled me.
"Coming!" I shouted, exiting my bedroom and making my way to the front door. I didn't bother looking through the little peep hole thing to see who it was, and opened the door.
My eyes locked with Pete's immediately. He looked... scared.
"You alright?" I asked, still leaning against the door. Pete furrowed his brows and sighed.
"Can I come in?" He nodded past me into my apartment. I opened the door further, inviting him in.
He walked past me immediately, then whirling around to face me.
"If you're gonna end whatever this is, I just want you-" I began, knowing that whatever he was gonna say would not be good, so I attempted to beat him to it. A confused expression washed over his face.
"What? No, no, Trick." He said. "I wanna be like, together. A couple." He blurted, and the first thing I felt was anger. That brat totally stole my thunder.
I scoffed, then slapped his arm. His face completely dropped, and I could tell he thought I was rejecting him. I totally meant to correct him, but then again, nah, I decided to let guy suffer for a second.
"I was gonna ask you that!" I groaned, deciding to end his pain. Relief flooded over his face, and he visibly relaxed.
"Oh come on, you don't have the guts to ask me out."
And yeah, he was completely right. No matter how much I practiced in the mirror, I would probably never become confident enough to ask him out. Thank god he beat me to it.
"So, is that a yes?" He asked, rocking back forth and his heels.
"I dunnnnoooooo." He frowned at my words, crossing his arms. I grinned.
"Kidding, kidding. Of course." I smiled. Pete immediately opened his arms and pulled me into a gigantic bear hug. It was most definitely one of the best hugs I had ever received.
When we pulled away, our lips connected in what would be our third kiss. I don't think either of us expected to kiss. It wasn't planned or anything. It just kinda happened. A lot of things just kinda happened since I met Pete.
He was the first one to pull away, much to my dismay. "That's cool, we can like, do that more often now." This caused me to smile because yeah, kissing Pete was pretty cool.
"Dude, I have so got to tell Meagan!" I said suddenly, but he kept me tightly wrapped in his arms. I attempted to move away, but I knew I'd be getting nowhere.
"Oh come on, spend some time with me!" He whined. I sighed.
"No, I need to speak to her! There will be plenty of time for you." I promised, planting a kiss on the bridge of his nose, causing his eyes to flutter shut. It was cute.
"You're coming with me." I spoke again, moving away, this time managing to somehow get out of his death grip. I wrapped my hand around his wrist and dragged him out of my apartment towards Meagan's apartment.
