I wake up next to Ryan and I smile. After climbing out of bed, I put on his shirt from yesterday, only buttoning the bottom few buttons. I go to the bathroom before going downstairs. I'm reaching into the refrigerator for the orange juice when I feel someones hands on my sides. Smiling, I turn around to find Ryan smiling at me. "Good morning." He says.
"Good morning." I smile.
He cups my cheek as he gently kisses me. Last night, we couldn't keep our hand off of each other but we managed to only make out. It was pretty amazing. He pulls away with a smile. "You stole my shirt?"
"I'm borrowing it." I wink.
"I like the way you wear it better. It's... sexier." He says.
His smile slowly fades away. "What's wrong?" I ask.
"Your mother called. She's coming home early." He says.
I try not to act disappointed so I simply shrug. "It was gonna happen eventually." He stares at me for a long moment. "I'm gonna go take a shower." I announce.
"Okay." He nods.
I climb the stairs in disappointment. She's not even here yet and she's already screwing things up - just like she's always done. After I shower and get dressed, I peek into their room. My clothes have disappeared from the floor and the room is clean. I walk to my room and sigh as I fall back onto the bed. After a while I hear my moms voice. It grows louder as she comes up the stairs. I pretend like I'm sleeping as her and Ryan go by. She'll never know I skipped school today. Their door closes and I hear my mom laughing but after a while, they get quiet. Several scenarios play through my mind and I feel like I'm gonna be sick.
I finally find a guy I actually like and he's my stepfather. Go figure.
After a while, my mom comes out of the room, wrapped in her robe. Her hair is all messed up and I force myself to look away. Once she's in the bathroom, I go to her room and cross my arms. Ryan looks at me awkwardly. "W-what are you doing in here?" He asks.
He stands up, wrapping the sheet around his waist. "I was just gonna let my mom know I'm going to Owens." I say.
"Look, if this is about your mom, I'm sorry. But I have -"
"I really don't care." I say. "What happened between us, never should've happened."
I begin walking away when I hear my mom. "Hey, honey."
"I'm going to Owens." I say.
"I don't think that's a good idea. You guys spend to much time together." She says.
I look at her in disbelief. "If you're gonna do it with me in the house," I point at the bedroom door, "then I can do it when I want, with who I want."
"Are you saying that you're sexually active?" She asks, concerned.
"Yes, mom. I am." I lie.
I'm still a virgin. Don't worry, mom. "Have you been using protection?" She asks, crossing her arms.
"No." I smirk. "His pullout game is pretty damn good."
I continue down the stairs and she yells at me. "I don't appreciate you acting like this. It's a serious thing."
"Why are you pretending to be a mother now?" I ask, turning around. "You stopped paying attention to me after you divorced dad. Now that you found a new toy, you have to pretend like you're a good mom. Let me tell you, you're not."
I walk away, leaving her standing there in disbelief.
When I get to Owens house, his car is the only one in the driveway. I knock on the door and he opens it. "Hey." He smiles.
