Keefe didn't see Sophie over the next couple of days, but they kept up a steady stream of texts. She had proudly texted him after her chem lab to let him know she hadn't dropped or spilled anything, at which point he responded that maybe, just maybe, he'd stop calling her Clumsy Girl.

They asked many of the cliché questions—date of birth, favorite book, favorite color, favorite movie. Keefe found out that Sophie loved Italian food and loved watching both sunrise and sunset. Keefe had tried to insist that she choose one or the other, but she absolutely refused. She said she knew what she liked and wasn't going to be made to choose between them.

Keefe found that to be ridiculously endearing.

A few days after they met for coffee, Keefe was contemplating asking her if she wanted to meet up again when he happened to run into her on campus.

He'd finished his last class for the day and had just said a cheerful goodbye to Fitz, who had decided to go home for the weekend. Home was simply across town, so he often went back for a day or two. Keefe usually joined him--he was always welcome at the Vackers' house--but this time he'd decided to hang back. He tried to tell himself it wasn't because he was hoping to see Sophie over the weekend, but...it totally was.

As Keefe made his way back to his and Fitz's campus apartment to drop off his books, he happened to see a remarkable beauty exiting the university's student convenience store with a large bag of peanut butter M&Ms.

She hadn't seen him yet. Instead of calling out her name to get her attention, something drove him to pull out his phone instead and call her.

He watched as she pulled her ringing phone out of her pocket, and he took immense pleasure in the smile that broke out on her face when she saw his name.

"Hello?" She answered, sounding a little breathless.

"Sharing is caring, you know," Keefe told her.

"What—?"

"Look to your left."

Her gaze traveled his direction, and when her eyes found his, her smile deepened.

Keefe tried to pretend the sight of her smiling at him didn't make his heart race, but it absolutely did. He smirked at her as he lowered his phone and made his way toward her.

"I was just thinking about you," Sophie told him as she stuffed her phone back in her pocket. "I wondered if you'd be around this weekend."

She'd been thinking about him? Had she been hoping to run into him as much as he'd been hoping to run into her?

"Do you have any plans for the rest of the day?" Keefe asked. "Because if not, you could spare me from endless hours of boredom and potential recklessness."

"Recklessness?"

He smirked. "I get mischievous when I'm bored."

"So what you're saying is, if I hang out with you, I'll keep you out of trouble?"

"Absolutely," Keefe told her. "Well...maybe. Possibly. It's worth a try, anyway."

Sophie laughed. "Well in that case, troublemaker..." she held up the bag of M&Ms. "You hungry?"

They walked back toward his apartment for a quick pit stop, munching on the candy and talking. He put his books in his room and, on a whim, grabbed the camera he was using for his photography class.
