Chapter 2

I didn't know what else to say. My mom told me that he would understand but won't take it nicely. Well obviously he wasn't taking it nicely, but was this the definition of understanding? I don't think he understands, not one bit and it's scaring me. Luke and I don't argue like this, usually we argue all lovey dovey like or just - I don't - I've ruined everything.

"You know what, if you can't even respond to that I can't imagine how this would've been if you told me alone."

"Wouldn't you have... not yelled at me though?" I croaked, my palms sweating and heart racking against my rib cage.

"Look Abi, I didn't mean to yell... I just... I have to watch you leave... and when will you even come back? In a year?"

"No! I'll come back for holidays babe, I'll be visiting as much as I possibly can. I - I saved my money for traveling."

"And when will be the first holiday that you come back?"

"Christmas... I promise."

"So in three months..." He sighed, rubbing a hand down his face.

"Luke, don't you see?" I strode over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, "It's like when you leave me. In all honesty, I think - I think maybe this is fair... You left for five months Luke... I'll be back in three at most... I mean look at us?

"If I can survive you being gone on tour, you can survive me going to school. Don't you think? Our relationship survived all that time. It can survive this... or at least that's what I believe."

"I just," Luke moved his gaze so that we made eye contact and I could see the hurt and pain swimming in his blue eyes, "If you told me earlier I could've planned something and I would've seen you earlier or visited more often to help you pack up and move."

"I wouldn't let you do that Luke, you know that." I crinkled up my nose and he chuckled sadly, giving me a small kiss on the forehead.

"I'll miss you...again... like always." I hummed in response to him and wrapped my arms around his middle, nuzzling my face into his chest like I always do.

"Don't miss me too much babe, it's not healthy." I giggled and he gasped dramatically.

"What?! You think I'm not healthy for missing you!? What!?"

"No! You're not!"

"Oh you're going to regret that." I screamed before he could do anything and squirmed out of his grasp. He let out a roar, imitating a lion and chased after me as I bolted to the jungle gym.

"You're supposed to be a penguin! Not a lion!" I teased him and he lunged for me, tackling me to the ground. We landed on the grass below us in a laughing mess and he rolled on top of me.

"I love you." He over exaggerated 'you' and I couldn't help but let my cheeks heat up.

"I love you." I echoed him and I leaned up to give him a kiss. I would miss this, I know... but you have to do, what you have to do. A pair of heavy footsteps brought me back to my senses and Luke pulled away from me.

"Um hi." Mikaela cleared her throat and I burst into laughter at the disgusted look on her face.

"Mikaela, would you like to join?" I wiggled my eyebrows at her and her face contorted into an even more disgusted look.
