Chapter 13

“Let’s start from the biggest rides and then end with the smallest.”
“At that rate we’ll be here all day!” My boyfriend hollered, laughing loudly.
“That’s the point! Don’t be a kill joy!”
“Oh Luke, she just called you a killjoy. Are you really going to settle for that?!” My dad teased and everyone broke into laughter.
“Don’t die guys.” Mikaela snickered when my dad parked for Luke and I to get out of the car.
“We won’t.” I rolled my eyes and she waved me off.
“You never know with all those kids you’ll be around. Plus fans could easily attack the both of you!”
“Well we’ll be fine! Plus I’m sure they’ll understand that the two of us want to enjoy this festival.”
“Yeah and if not we’ll hide.” Luke shrugged, opening the car door and sliding out with a laugh as my dad shook his head.
“Okay text me when you two are done on your date. Have fun and be careful, okay? I mean it.” My dad raised his eyebrows and both Luke and I nodded. Of course we’ll be careful. I didn’t want to die and neither did Luke.
“Bring me something back from one of the little games!” Mikaela boomed out of the passenger side window.
“We’ll try!” I smiled, and waved as Luke took my hand and cross the street to the dirt lot where the festival was being held. My dad honked a goodbye and I waved one last time with Luke standing beside me, smiling proudly.
“This will be so fun Luke oh my gosh I’m so excited.” I squealed, tightening my grip on his hand and bouncing with every step I took as Luke led us to the entrance booth.
“I’m excited too. I can’t wait to play games; I’m so beast at those.”
“No you aren’t!? Remember the last time we went to something like this!? That fair or whatever at the end of last year?”
“Oh god! That was horrible! I was just having a bad day!”
“No! That carnival we went to on Halloween?? Or how about that little Valentine’s play space in London!?”
“Okay okay! I suck at games!” Luke chuckled, poking my cheek and pulling me into his side.
“Oh my god that’s Luke Hemmings!”
“Here we go.” I muttered under my breath nervously, putting on a smile and clinging to Luke.
“It’s Labi! It’s Labi!” A little girl screeched, running towards us with a stuffed animal and her parents following quickly behind her.
“Abigail can I get a photo with you??” Some random teenaged boy asked me. I knitted my eyebrows together slightly but nodded anyways.
“I ship Labi so hard.” This fangirl whispered to me and I giggled, thanking her and giving her a small hug.
“Okay guys sorry but we want to ride some rides and play games. I hope you all don’t mind.” Luke piped up. I nodded along with what he said and said bye to the fans. They all lingered around a bit till we got in line to get our faces painted.
