I made it. :s

Zuri

"Mars, is everything okay? You're kinda scaring me."

"Ditto," Roman adds, leaning in. "Is everything okay?"

Mars looks up with weary eyes.

"There's something I've never told you, Lav."

I let my shoulders fall, and a wave of sadness washes over me.

Marley doesn't know, but when we first meant I knew she had a crush on me. She thinks she can hide it, but it's obvious she likes girls, always blushing when a redhead walks by.

Plus, not everyone knows, but I'm pretty sure she and Vicky had a thing for a while, and that's why they hate each other.

Every time I tried to talk to her about it, she dismissed me, so I left it alone.

Reaching across the table, I grab her other hand with a tight squeeze. "I kinda already know." She looks up at me, bewildered.

"How can you know I haven't told anyone?"

"You're my best friend, and it was one of the first things I noticed." I've never seen a more confused look.

"Zuri?"

I interrupt, "We don't care that you're gay!"

The room goes quiet, and she lets go of my hands, not knowing what to say.

"How did you know about that?" She gives me a look I wasn't prepared for, expecting an explanation.

Roman's minding his own not even making eye contact.

She shakes her head, dismissing the thought.

"We'll talk about that later, but that's not what I wanted to say."

"Okay." My stomach starts to turn, and a whirlwind of horrible possibilities comes to mind one after the other.

Marley sits up and clears her throat. "I have HD." Roman's hands fall, and he leans back, looking down.

My heart sinks to a place I never thought possible, and my eyes are starting to burn and blur.

"Huntington's Disease?" Roman specifies. Tears seep from all our eyes, and a still sob fills the room.

Marley breaks down. "I get it from my dad. He tested positive for the gene when he was in his twenties. I never wanted to know until I moved out and... I have it."

Roman adds. "That's why you let go like that." He gets up, helping me along, and we both hold her. Sobs fill the room, and all you hear are sniffles and tears.

Roman kisses her forehead. "We're not going anywhere tonight. It's going to be all about you, peach. We can do whatever you want. You're going to be fine."

"Not forever. Let's just eat dinner."

"Okay." We say in union.
