Hell's Kitchen
Roman
It's been quiet for hours. We ate dinner and cleaned up. Mars put on a movie. We watched it, and now we're in the back of a cab.
Zuri is getting more and more anxious. She won't stop squirming. I knew I shouldn't have sat in the middle.
"Mars, where are we going? It's nine o'clock at night."
Zuri asked, pushing me out of the way.
"It's supposed to be a surprise now, stop asking," Marley says, leaning back to relax more.
Z looks out the window with an annoyed expression. She's so used to being in control all the time. I nudge her, but she won't budge. I try again, but she shakes me off. So I wrap my arm around her, pulling her close.
"Relax," I whisper. She shakes her head in disagreement.
"Z everything is fine, just have a little faith."
Marley sits up, and next thing you know, the driver is pulling over.
"Mars, what is it?" I asked. She looks up, teary-eyed.
"I'm fine, I just need to think I'm gonna take a walk. I'll be home later."
Zuri chimes in. "Lemon, it's raining."
She gets out and hands me a fifty.
"Go home, the ride's on me."
"Can I ask where you're going?" I tilt my head.
"Please," Zuri asked. "We just want you to be safe."
"I will be. I'm gonna be with my dad, he has a place around here."
"Okay." Zuri smiles and waves bye.
"I'll see you later, Ro." I smile, and just like that, she's gone, disappearing in the pouring rain.
The driver turns around. "Where to?"
"Can you take us to Emmy Squared, please?"
"Alright, kid." He pulls off, turning the radio up. Thank god it's jazz.
"Now what?" Zuri looks up at me with worry in her eyes.
"Milkshakes." I smile, kissing her forehead. "She'll be alright."
I wonder why Marley wants to talk to her dad. She looks so sad and angry. I hope everything is fine. Even though nothing will be the same anymore. Sometimes the world can be a hungry place.

Marley is having a hard time. Will this talk with her dad ease her mind??
Any Thoughts??
