In a domain in Sumeru, we see multiple abyss mages and an Abyss Lector digging for anything useful that could help them. The Abyss Lector watches his minions work as he looks around, seeing nothing but sand, random hilichurls, slimes, and ancient ruins. He then hears a rock fall and turns around, seeing nothing and sighing with annoyance. However, on a pillar, a spectator watched with glee. Before the abyss lector could do anything, the person wraps her legs around his head and snaps his neck.

The Abyss Mages turn to see the commotion, but don't see their leader. Suddenly, a speeding force knocks all out cold.

???: "Ahh~ That was easier. Well then, let's see what ya got!"

The girl digs where they were searching and finds a treasure chest. Her eyes light up with stars as she opens it, and she squeals, finding a bunch of mora and snagging it.

???: "Hmm...let's see what else this kitty can find?~"

The girl sniffs the air everywhere, trying to catch a whiff of something that can be valuable. Suddenly, she gets a smell. One that is magnificent, and her eyes widen with excitement. The smell was coming from Mondstadt. Specifically, a person.

???: "Oooo~ Looks like someone got something precious, can't wait to see what it is~"

She zips away with a flash.

Kunimitsu: "Jean, I refuse to believe that Albedo killed someone!"

Back in Mondstadt, Kunimitsu, Ai, Lumine, and Paimon were in Jean's office, baffled by the news of Albedo murdering someone. Not too long before their meeting, they were met with all of the Knights of Favonius Captains, including Kaeya and Eula.

Jean: "I know you're wondering about what's happened, Kunimitsu. There have been a number of...incidents in Mondstadt. In order to wrap up the case, I gathered all of the captains of the Knights of Favonius together to hold a trial."

Paimon: "A trial? But, this is Mondstadt, not Fontaine."

Ai: "Every nation needs a judicial system, Paimon."

Jean: "I can understand the confusion. You've never participated in one of our trials before. In truth, we haven't conducted one in quite some time. The Knights of Favonius oversee most matters of law and order in Mondstadt. Of course, in the interest of fairness, major cases are tied jointly with the Church. Under the guidance of Barbatos, the Knights uphold chivalric justice in the spirit of our order, and the Church carries blessings and goodwill wherever the wind can reach. And today's case...requires a joint trial by both parties."
