The couple had been at it all night. Neither one could keep their hands off each other. Their laughter, soft whispers, and the occasional playful shove echoed through the walls of the cozy apartment, creating a symphony of intimacy that only lovers can compose. If it wasn't for Kiya passing out from exhaustion, they'd still be at it, lost in a world where time ceased to exist, where the only reality was the warmth of each other's bodies and the electric connection that sparked between them.
Kiya lay sprawled in bed, her naked form partially hidden beneath rumpled sheets, the soft glow of dawn filtering through the curtains. Zed, however, found himself on the balcony with Yaze, the cool morning air a stark contrast to the heat of the night before. They were smoking, the tendrils of smoke curling into the crisp air, carrying with them the remnants of their revelry.
Five hours passed, but for Zed, time felt suspended. He was lost in the haze of the night's escapades, the laughter still echoing in his mind. Yet, amidst the haze, a heart-wrenching sob pierced the tranquility of the morning. Zed's eyes widened at the sound, the joyful remnants of the night evaporating in an instant. He jumped from his seat, speed-walking into the room where Kiya lay, enveloped in a cocoon of sorrow.
"Wassup? Why you crying?" he questioned, climbing into bed beside her, his arms instinctively wrapping around her. The warmth of her body was a stark contrast to the chill of her tears. "Bad dream?"
Kiya nodded, blinking away the remnants of her nightmare. "You were breaking up with me" she murmured, her voice thick with emotion.
Zed felt a pang in his chest, the weight of her words settling heavily upon him. "If I could beat the dream version of myself's ass, I would. I'd never leave you, on Nia, I ain't" he reassured her, his tone earnest, yet tinged with a hint of humor.
"You said I was boring and you get more excitement going to a McDonald's drive-thru than being with me" she replied, the hurt evident in her eyes.
"Damn" he breathed, the gravity of her words hitting him like a freight train. Zed realized how fragile their connection felt, how easily it could be shaken by the shadows of insecurity and doubt.
"Zeddie" Kiya mumbled sadly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"My fault. I'm sorry that was said to you. It's not true, I don't feel that way. I love you so much Phat and I'll love you even more later" he vowed, his heart racing as he held her close.
Kiya nestled deeper into his embrace, seeking solace in the warmth of his body. "You'll stay right here? I'm still tired" she questioned, her voice muffled against his chest.
"Yea" Zed replied, his fingers gently stroking her hair, an unspoken promise of protection and love. He understood the weight of dreams—how they could twist reality, distorting the truth and leaving scars that lingered long after the night had passed.
As the sun began to rise, casting golden rays across the room, Zed couldn't help but reflect on the fragility of relationships. They were like glass, beautiful yet easily shattered by careless words or unkind thoughts. Kiya's nightmare was a manifestation of her fears, a glimpse into the insecurities that often lay dormant beneath the surface.
In relationships, it's easy to take each other for granted, to forget the small gestures that weave the fabric of love. The late-night conversations, the shared laughter, the quiet moments of understanding—these were the threads that held them together. Zed resolved to be more mindful, to cherish every moment they spent together, to remind Kiya of her worth and the depth of his affection.
"Phat" he called softly, breaking the comfortable silence that enveloped them. "You know you're not boring, right? You're the most exciting person I know. I'd choose you over a drive-thru— shit over everything—any day."
