In the whirlwind of life, love often finds itself at the mercy of time. For Ja'Kiya and Zed, this adage rang painfully true.

As Ja'Kiya flitted from one state to another, collaborating with rising rappers in her friend circle, Zed occupied his time with his own ventures—some legal, some decidedly not.

Their lives had become a dance of distance, each step choreographed by the demands of their respective careers.

One fateful afternoon, while Zed was engaged in a rather unsavory task—tending to a man who had once been more than just a ghost from Ja'Kiya's past—Ja'Kiya was busy with her own world, one she thrived in the company of her friends and fellow musicians, her laughter echoing through the air as she shared snippets of her life with Zed through video calls.

It was during one of these calls that the true nature of their lives revealed itself—a juxtaposition of light and shadow.

Her bubbly voice spilled through the speaker, a warm contrast to the cold reality he was entrenched in. "Hey, I just wanted to tell you I created a shared photo gallery. Add some pictures when you get time. So far it's just pictures from our dates and selfies of myself."

Zed, grinning as he wiped the blood from his hands, couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. "Ight, you look pretty" he replied, glancing down at the man whimpering at his feet. The contrast between Ja'Kiya's bright spirit and the darkness surrounding him was stark. "Where you going?"

"Thank you, Baby! I just made you lunch. I'm about to go meet up with Cj and get started on collaborating with new artists," she said, oblivious to the chaos he was enveloped in.

"I appreciate that, Phat. What's the plan after that?" Zed asks, genuinely interested in her day, even though his own is filled with chaos.

The connection they share, despite the distance and distractions, remains strong, and he can't help but feel a sense of pride for her ambitions.

"After therapy, I plan to swing by my parents' house. I think Mimi wants me to stop by her place too. That should fill my entire day, so I'll head home afterward."

"Ki—" the man whimpered, desperately seeking help as Zed grinned, delivering a swift kick to the man's lower abdomen. "fuck."

"Oh?" She replied, a hint of confusion in her voice. "Are you busy?"

"No," Zed said, stomping the man into unconsciousness with a huff, then turning his full attention to Kiya. "You're so pretty, Phat."

"I try," she smiled into the camera, playfully sticking out her tongue. "Oh, Zeddie, before I forget, I cleaned your room and wiped down the walls. Just a reminder—don't smoke in there."

"How much money did you take?"

"Mmm, about two thousand. I put the rest in your safe," she paused, glancing down at her feet. "What color should I get my toes? My mom and I are going for nails before dinner."
