ZEDADIAH
Exhaling smoke I listened to Aziel discuss numbers regarding his businesses to a group of six men.
The dimly lit room provided a mysterious ambiance, enhancing the seriousness of the discussion. Each man's expression reflected a mix of concentration and intrigue, underscoring the importance of the topics being address.
One question lingers in my mind: Why hasn't she called yet? It's been hours since our last conversation, and the silence is irritating.
It's three-forty in the afternoon and she hasn't called. She posted on her instagram story five minutes ago so I know she's awake.
Going to out message thread I sent her a text.

Zeddie🎭| You good?Crybaby Ki🚩| Yes, Lani told me you're in a meeting so I didn't call.
—Pressing the FaceTime icon, I positioned my phone on the table in front of me as I waited.
Two rings later, her warm brown eyes grace the screen. A gentle smile plays on her lips, radiating a sense of familiarity and comfort. The soft glow of the screen accentuates the warmth in her gaze, drawing me in with its inviting charm. As she begins to speak, her voice carries a melodic cadence, soothing and reassuring.
"Hey, you look high as hell"
"Kiya c'mere"
"where you at?" I could feel my heartbeat in my ears. He not talking to my—ight "...Ja'Kiya"
"Outside my parents house, I'm about to see my therapist." Pulling the phone away from her face she showed her outfit and where the voice came from. Her neighbor who sat in front of her house in a white pathfinder. Mm "after that I'm meeting Lani at our friends house and then pick up my groceries from target."
Her presence on the screen feels like a sanctuary, a place where worries melt away and only serenity remains, leaving me with a feeling of gratitude for this unexpected connection. The way her eyes sparkle with a hint of mystery and her smile radiates warmth adds an extra layer of comfort to my day.
"When Ima see you?"
"You can come over for dinner—"
"That's too far out, lemme see you now"
"I don't have enough time to see you right now, come over tonight around nine for dinner."
"Ight, how you feeling?"
"I feel optimistic today. I'm not sure why but I do. How are you feeling?"
"Bored"
"Aren't you in a meeting?"
"Mhm" As wisps of smoke elegantly swirled towards the camera lens, I casually shifted my gaze over my shoulder, the faint sound of someone entering through the door catching my attention.
"Damn who's that? That's not your sister is it?"
"You get paid to be in my phone?" I question while carefully positioning my phone screen-side down, ensuring it was shielded from Kiya's line of sight. Simultaneously, I maintained a firm grip on my Glock.
"Zed" From across the room, Aziel calls out to me, his expression filled with a sense of understanding as he attempts to communicate silently.
He's making plans to get with my girl
The atmosphere around us seems to hold a quiet tension, as if the unspoken dialogue between us carries weight and significance. Aziel's gaze meets mine, and I can almost hear the unspoken thoughts passing between us.
