Ja'kiya lay comfortably atop Zed, the soft hum of the living room enveloping them in a cocoon of warmth and intimacy. The glow of the late afternoon sun streamed through the window, casting golden rays that danced around the room, highlighting the simplicity of their shared moment.

Zed, lost in the bliss of her presence, absentmindedly rubbed circles on her back while planting gentle kisses along her neck, each one a silent declaration of his affection.

"Mimi wants to come over with her husband, Lani too. Do you want to try socializing with them? Her husband is nice; I think Mimi said he's an engineer" Ja'kiya suggested, breaking the comfortable silence.

"Is that what you want?" he replied, his voice a blend of curiosity and reluctance.

"I want to see you hold a conversation with someone other than me" she teased, a playful smile dancing on her lips.

"Ight, Phat" he sighed, releasing her and reaching for her phone to check the text thread. "Mmcht, they coming right now? Get up real quick."

"They live twenty minutes away; we have time" she reassured him, watching as he gathered his smoking materials and headed to the balcony, a frown lingering on his face. "Zedadiah."

"Give me a minute" he called back, his voice muffled by the door.

Instead of dwelling on Zed's mood, Ja'kiya busied herself with cleaning and ordering pizza, a small act of preparation for the evening ahead. Knowing Zed's aversion to takeout, she decided to whip up a homemade meal just for him, a gesture that spoke volumes about her understanding of his preferences.

As she stirred the pot, the aroma of spices filled the kitchen, mingling with the faint scent of smoke wafting in from the balcony. Zed returned, seeking her undivided attention, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

"What you doing?" he asked, his voice a low rumble of affection.

"Making your dinner. I ordered pizza for everyone else; it should be here soon. It's thirty dollars" she replied, glancing back at him with a smile.

"Thank you; you the best finance inna world. I love you, and I'm thankful for your patience" he said, peppering her shoulder with kisses, pressing his front against her backside. "You my world, you know that?"

"Yes, Baby, I love you too. How are you feeling? This'll be more intimate; my friends will have their boyfriends, so I won't be the center of attention. Do you think you'll like it?"

"I'm willing to entertain it. I don't care to be around them, but I'll do it for you" he replied, his tone a mix of resignation and affection.

"That's not good, though. I don't want you to feel left out or like an outsider. Tell me how to fix it. Do you have friends outside of the people I know? We can hang out with them" she suggested, her concern evident.

"Nah, yo friends good. I got a few homeboys outside of Aziel's gang. They're not people I wanna introduce you to. I really want you to myself. I don't want you to have any friends, just me" he confessed, a hint of possessiveness creeping into his voice.

"That's unhealthy" she countered gently. "That'll lead to attachment issues and loneliness when you have work or something."

"I think differently" he shrugged, leaning down to place soft kisses on her skin as she continued her culinary endeavors.

"Oh, I bet you do. I need a back massage and a sweet treat" she teased, turning to face him.

"I'm looking at a sweet treat" he grinned, his hands roaming her body as he pulled her closer. "Feed me."
