We'll watch the hourglass end, your time is up.

Sophie POV
I watch Raven duck behind a potted plant in the mall's food court. I look at her strangely as she grabs me and pulls me down with her.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I ask her.
"He is here," she hisses.
"Who?" I ask, putting my head up and looking around.
She pulls me down again and looks frantic. "Shush! He can't see you! He can't know we're here."
I look at her for a moment before it dawns on me. "Rave, he can't be here. He went to jail, remember? He was sent away, it's someone that looks like him."
She shakes her head frantically, looking like a mad woman, "No, Soph, I'm telling you. It was him! I don't know what he's doing out if prison! I'm going to go get a table. You get the food. Get me anything, I just can't face him right now!" She shoves me away before scurrying off.
I sigh and stand up, if it was Andrew, which I doubt, he would have to go through me and possibly mall security to get to Raven because I would scream rape. Go ahead and say that screaming rape isn't funny, but you don't know what that bastard did to Raven. He completely destroyed her. I walk up to a sandwich place, remembering that dark time while waiting to be served.

Raven was so happy, she thought she met the one. The guy that would be her everything, he was nice, smart, caring... Everything she was looking for, and then some. Turns out, he was really sadistic and possessive. At first, everything seemed okay. Raven was getting pleasure out of the relationship and he was treating her fairly. But, then something changed in him. He stopped letting her see her friends, specifically, males. If I wanted to visit her, I had to come alone. He controlled all aspects of her life, which, in the type of relationship she was in was normal, but how he was doing it was enough to raise concern. If they went out in public, she couldn't wear anything tight. Yoga pants, leggings, etc. Nor could it show a fair amount if skin. If Andrew took her to the beach or pool, she had to be covered unless swimming or sun-bathing. Raven, being Raven, started acting out, being defiant. Andrew decided to get...creative in punishing her.
At first, it was not wearing clothing at home, but then it grew to him tieing her up and going out for the night, sleeping with other women and not coming home until late afternoon the next day. That hurt Raven the most. He had twisted her mind so that she was solely dependant on him, if he wasn't there, she was in physical and mental pain.
Eventually, he would beat her when he came home from his one night stands. That's where the marks on her back came from. Andrew beat her with a chain, deeply. Only stopping when she passed out from the pain. She told me that when she passed out, he would treat her wounds, since he was a doctor. When she would gain consciousness, he would tell her how sorry he was, he was doing it for her own good, it was up to her to stay out if trouble when he wasn't around etc.
They took a break in their relationship and she tried to move on, see other people. Andrew was really the one that ended it pushed her out on the street one day with no explanation except for telling her not to come back.
Raven was always in pain in that time, she could never describe the pain, she would just say it was a pain in her chest, like her heart and soul were being shattered. She would spend her days talking to different guys, trying to forget the pain, and nights in tears, trying to contact him. She was ready to crawl back to him, she just needed the pain to end.
Andrew caught wind of her meeting other guys and that set him off. Showed up on her doorstep one day ranting about how she was his and she needed to stay out of trouble when he wasn't there. That just because he wasn't there didn't mean she wasn't his. The cycle of poison started up again, this would happen over and over. He would brainwash her and toss her when she was nothing more then an empty shell, only to come back when she was starting to break free of his hold.
One day, however, she had enough. She told Andrew she was sick of his bullshit. How he would tell her she was his and his only and then go out the same night to have sex with some random girl. She was going to leave him and never come back because it hurt too much. That night, he pushed her.
That night, she fell down a flight of stairs.
That night, Andrew had no choice but to call an ambulance.
That night, as they took her into the emergency room, Raven looked at him with such hatred in her eyes.
She filed for domestic abuse, and own, the judge felt sympathy and she had more then enough evidence on her body to show that she was being abused.
After he went to jail, she was in pain for months, it broke my heart seeing her like that. Knowing I couldn't do anything to help her, to ease her pain and suffering. Anything relating to Andrew was a trigger and would cause the pain to come back. Whether it was his name, or when she started to date again and guys wanted to know about her past.
She was just starting to get better, too. And now he's here and months of work is gone.

I shake my head bitterly as I take the tray to Raven, who is sitting at the table with her hood up and staring at her phone intently. I place her sandwich in front of her and she glances up, muttering a thanks.
"Rave, even if it was him, I don't expect him to recognise you. You've changed a lot. I mean, your hair grew out and is another colour completely. You have piercings everywhere and he didn't even allow you to get piercings. Don't worry, sweetheart," I tell her gently.
"I can't stand it, Sophie. Why the fuck is he out of jail? Fuck, if I see him, I will want to have a boyfriend, just to rub it in his stupid face," she replies, putting her phone away.
I smile a little, that's the Raven I know. "I know, Ray, I know."
We finish our lunch and leave the mall. Not wanting to stick around any longer.
