Madeline's pov I didn't know Milo's friends super well but it almost didn't matter, everyone made sure I felt extremely welcome to the point where it didn't matter if Milo was near me or not because I didn't feel out of place. "I love weddings" I said adding onto the the conversation. Everyone looked over at me and Meg had a huge smile on her face "well is there wedding bells ringing for you anytime soon?" I laughed but I could tell she was serious which made me wonder if Milo had spoken to her about moving forward with our relationship.
I shrugged "I'm not really sure. I love Milo and I don't want to break up with him anytime soon but I also don't know if I'm ready for marriage. That's such a huge step I mean congrats to Jordan and Trevor I'm just so young and Milo's really my only serious relationship". Meg nodded "yeah I guess that is a lot to think about. Milo loves you though and you make him so happy you two are just adorable" I tried to hide my grin behind a sip of champagne.
"If I was going to marry anyone I'd want it to be Milo" it went quiet for a second and then I heard my name. "Maddie!" I turned around to see Milo waving me over "sorry Meg" she waved me off "go" I finished off my glass before running over to him "hi baby" I said as I reached him. He took my hand, pulling me into the next circle of introductions."Trevor, Jordan this is my beautiful girlfriend Madeline Castillo, Maddie this is the groom and bride Trevor and Jordan" I smiled at them and reached my hand out to shake theirs. "It's so nice to meet you, I've heard so much about you guys the wedding is gorgeous and you look gorgeous like literally stunning".
My nerves had me talking too fast, but Jordan only laughed. "We've heard so much about you, I was starting to think Milo made you up." She pulled me into a hug, warm and genuine. I hugged her back, but my thoughts flickered again, if Milo really had been talking about me to his friends, just how much of our future was he already picturing? Jordan pulled back still smiling "also you are much prettier than Milo described" I felt my cheeks warm "that's so sweet oh my god thank you" Milo wrapped his arm around my waist, his palm resting upon my hip.
Trevor clapped Milo on the shoulder "alright you've hogged us for long enough we gotta go talk to the in-laws" Jordan rolled her eyes "do we have to" she whined out jokingly "alright bye guys" Milo said as they started walking away "oh I better see you two on the dance floor later" Jordan said just before she was out of ear shot and Milo yelled back "obviously" he looked down at me with a huge grin "I can't dance" I said Milo laughed as he began walking us towards the bar.
"You totally can dance" I shock my head "nuh uh I suck ask Luna I'm a swayer" Milo laughed as he began ordering for us like always. The bartender slid two glasses across the counter, and we moved aside to make room for the next couple. Across the room, someone called Milo's name and waved him over. "Be right back," he told me, pressing a quick kiss to my cheek before disappearing into the crowd. Left on my own I leaned against the bar and let my eyes drift to the dance floor.
Jordan and Trevor were swaying together, their faces lit with that newlywed glow you only see in movies. Around them, friends and family clapped along to the beat, laughter spilling over the music. It was beautiful. And terrifying. I envied them because they just knew but how do you just know? "Maddie!" Meg reappeared at my side "Bouquet toss is in five minutes come with me!" I opened my mouth to protest, but she was already dragging me toward the front. The DJ's voice boomed over the mic. "Alright, single ladies, gather 'round!"I hesitated on the edge of the group, smiling awkwardly as a dozen women pushed each other into position.
Jordan stood at the center, bouquet in hand, laughing over her shoulder. "Ready?" she called. I didn't even want the bouquet, but when she tossed it, the thing seemed to find me bouncing once off another woman's hands before landing squarely in mine. The crowd erupted in cheers. "Maddie caught it!" someone yelled. I looked over instinctively and found Milo across the room, watching with a grin that was both amused and something else.
Meg nudged me. "Well I guess that settles it." I laughed, shaking my head, but my heart thudded harder than it should have. Because from the way Milo was still looking at me, bouquet in hand, I knew he was already thinking about what came next and did I want that? I began walking over to him without even really thinking about it. "You look really cute with the flowers" I tried to be stern but he was too sweet. I laughed and reached up to kiss him on the lips quickly. "If I ever get married I would want it to be with you" I looked up at him and his face seemed to soften.
"I want to marry you too" he didn't speak in the future tense like I did he used present. He wants to marry me
