Penelope's P.O.V.
The next day was like yesterday. Cameron and Adam picks me up and go to school, Veronica gives me her homework and so on.
Everyday Veronica reminds me of how imperfect I was, at first I didn't mind because that's what everyone said at my old school, but for some reason I feel more hurt when she says it. Was is because she was a werewolf? Although, I had few werewolves in my old high school also.
I sighed as I walked up to a rock big enough for me to sit on. I touched the place where Veronica had slapped me for getting questions wrong on her homework. Her homework was easy, but at that time she had a lot of homework to finish, I also had to finish mine.
The slap probably had left a mark, but she had given it to me when school ended. I winced as I added too much pressure.
Pulling out concealer and my phone, I applied the concealer. My skin was sensitive and her slap was with much force, creating a red slap mark.
I didn't want my brother to know, he would demand Veronica's parents and talk some sense into her.
I heard some rustling to the left of me. I hurriedly put the concealer away and waited for something to pop out. I was about to run away until I heard a female voice, "Wait!"
I stopped in my tracks and slowly turned around, seeing the female. She got up and dusted herself. I looked at her appearance, shining bright green eyes, I think dark brown hair, and a figure I would die for.
"Hi! My name is Charlie," She smiled, "What's yours?" I looked at her and said quietly, "Hello... My name is Penelope."
I looked down at the grass, nervous. "Sorry, I was just walking by and I happened to see you sitting on this rock."
"Um, i-it's okay." I said quickly and quietly. I heard footsteps come closer to me. She put her hand on my shoulder, which I flinched back to. "Why do you have your head down?" She asked, pulling her hand away from my shoulder.
"I-It's just-" I got caught off when she interrupted me, "You don't have to be scared of me. After all I'm just a harmless girl!" She said.
I began lifting me head until I met her eyes. She wasn't tall, but certainly taller than me. She had a smile on her face when I met her eyes, "See! It wasn't so hard." She grinned.
We sat on the forest floor and she started talking about herself. She had a mate named Mason, she had another sibling a brother which was older than her. Charlie is the Beta's daughter but is soon to be Gamma Female.
"You don't talk much do you?" She asked. I shook my head. "Have you found your mate?" Charlie asked me. I shook my head, "But I felt his presence when I shifted." I mumbled under my breath.
"What?" She questioned. I shook my head, not wanting to explain. I took out my phone and checked what time it was. It was 4:57 P.M.
Shoot. I thought. "Um... I have to go." I said, standing up. "It was nice meeting you!" Charlie said, standing up also.
"Bye." I said quietly. "Bye!" She said back, smiling.
I walked towards the direction of my house thinking that maybe I had made a new friend. When I came back home, Phoenix scolded me once again that I was late.
"Sorry, I'll be sure to watch time carefully next time." I said before going up to my bedroom. I went straight to bed too tired to do anything.
----
The next morning I woke up at 5:30. I grabbed clothes from my closet and went into the bathroom. I took a quick shower and dried myself. Putting on my clothes I look into the mirror. I look the same from the last time I looked into a mirror.
I diverted my gaze away from the mirror, not wanting to look at my reflection anymore. I went out of my bathroom and decided to work on my art homework. Though I didn't have the scene in front of me, I decided to make up some stuff.
Once it was 6:45, I left to go to school early. Phoenix was hesitating, but let me go anyways. I went to my spot and waited for time to pass.
I ended falling asleep due to the calming breeze and peaceful silence. I was at least and hour late for school, first period almost ending.
I collected my stuff and ran to school.
I slowly opened the door for first period, only having 25 minutes left. The teacher looked up and told me to talk to him after school. I nodded my head and went to and empty seat, which was surprisingly in the back.
The class ended and second period came rolling in. The day went by quickly until lunch came. Charlie was by my side, chatting away since I met her in one of my classes.
I was about to head out of the building, passing the cafeteria. "Where do you think you're going?" Charlie said, stopping me from moving any further.
"Going outside to eat my lunch." I said quietly. "Nuh uh. You're coming in the cafeteria with me." She said, pulling my arm to the cafeteria doors.
She pushed the doors open and lead me to where she's going to sit.
I saw a guy wildly waving his hand to catch Charlie's attention, which it did. When she came closer to the table, I saw Adam, Cameron, another boy, and the boy who was waving wildly at Charlie.
Charlie sat down next to the guy waving at her who was next to Adam. "As you know, this is Adam and Cameron," Charlie said, "This guy next to me is Mason, and my mate." She continued.
"And the boy there is Luca." I waved at them shyly before putting my head down.
I sat there quietly, munching on my apple that I packed for myself. It was all peaceful before Veronica decided to show up.
