Chapter 56: Good Luck

Adam's P.O.V.

"Adam?" I heard a voice call out. I slowly opened my eyes, my back sore. I lifted my head off the desk and faced my father.

"Were you in here all night?" He asked, looking at the papers that were littering the desk and floor.

I nodded my head, and looked at the hanging clock. "You should still be resting. Did you stay up to do these?"

I nodded my head again, yawning. "I won't be able to sleep until I know Penelope is safe."

My father sighed, "I can't and won't be able to understand to feeling of losing your mate. Your mother, most of the time anyways, was by my side. When we first met she would run away from me, scared."

"She was like Penelope, scarred and not as talkative as she is now. But she slowly let me in and break her walls. She gained her confidence she lost years ago and grew to the beautiful woman she is now."

My father smiled as he looked at a picture that I framed of our family on our desk. "We sent out trackers again. We are still investigating on Veronica and the scent."

I nodded my head, pulling out the map I found in Veronica's room. "I'm going here with some warriors."

My father looked at me with worried eyes, "Right now?"

"Yup." I said, getting an extra pair of clothes. "You're sleep deprived, rest a little bit more." He said.

"It's fine. I won't be able to go to sleep anyways. I'm bringing Luca and Mason with me."

My father ran his hand through his hair, "Fine, just make sure you bring them back."

I looked at him with determined eyes, "Of course I will. Penelope's my mate. Oh, if Veronica is 'back' make sure you put her in a cell and chain her with silver." My father nodded his head.

'Luca, Mason, we're going on a trip.' I linked them. 'Meet me in the backyard.'

I left my office and followed the hallways to the back door. When I went outside, Luca and Mason were already there, with Leanne and Charlie.

"Let's go." I said, shifting into my wolf. "Wait, Adam." I heard Luca say. "They're coming with us."

I turned around and Luca pointed to Leanne and Charlie. I shook my head, 'It's too dangerous.' 

"We're going whether you like it or not." Charlie declared. I growled at them, 'It's dangerous. You're letting them go with us?' I said to Mason and Luca.

Mason gave me a nervous smile and nodded his head. 'Fine, let's go.' I said, not wanting to waste anymore time.

They shifted into their wolves and we started running, me leading the way.

We started running around twelve, and when we got to the destination it was already four. We morphed back into our human forms and saw a big warehouse next to a decent looking house.

'Intruders are in the territory. Repeat, intruders are in the territory. All soldiers please deploy to the North side of the territory.' The voice said, a siren going off.

"We need to split up. Look for Penelope, mind link me when you do." They nodded their heads and we parted our ways.

I climbed up a tree and saw people in uniforms pouring out of the warehouse. They marched in sync and searched the territory.

When I saw no people around the warehouse, I took this moment to sneak in.

The first thing I smelt was blood and urine. I scrunched my nose in disgust before continuing walking. If Penelope was in here, I wouldn't be able to find her with the overpowering scents.
