THE BEEF WAS BACK; SORT of.
Due to The Bear bleeding money, it was decided that they would bring The Beef back during lunch hours round the back. There was a take-out window and some picnic benches for people to come and enjoy the taste that they thought was long gone.
It was smart. The Beef was doing a shit ton better than The Bear right now, despite Carmy not wanting to admit it.
Kitty sighed as she stood outside. A half-lit cigarette dangling from her fingers. Her eyes laser focused on The Beef take-out window. The line had already been around the corner by the time she had arrived that morning – she had come early after dropping Eva off at school whilst Richie went round to Sugar's place to help her with something after Pete was called into work earlier than usual.
She leaned her back against the brick wall. Her mind wandering whether all of this was a good idea. Whether such a restaurant like The Bear had any chances of surviving here, let alone thriving. Ever was closing, and although it was by Chef Terry's own choice, it had been a well established restaurant for years and that's why it brought in people, but The Bear had been opened for less than a year and although they would often find themselves booked up most evenings, there were a lot of times where those bookings either fell through or the people never came back again and they lost what could have been a regular customer that would help save the place.
But The Beef had that. Because even after having closed and now recently kind of re-opened, they were already swarmed with locals and regulars. People Kitty had spotted multiple times lining up for a sandwich during the weeks they'd been back.
She sighed, lifting her cigarette up to her lips and taking a deep inhale, feeling her body relaxing under the substance.
"You alright?"
She looked to her side, spotting Ebraheim walking over. A take-out box in his hand.
Kitty sent him a small smile and nodded, pushing herself away from the wall slightly, "Yeah, I'm all good. You?"
He grinned, "I'm great," He said, gesturing over to the take-out window.
It was obvious to see that Ebraheim felt much more comfortable with working at The Beef, and it was great to see him around again – he had been part of the family for years, it would have ben heartbreaking to see him go and never return because The Bear was now in running.
Ebraheim passed her the take-out box.
She raised a brow.
"Thought you might be hungry," He shrugged, smiling warmly at her.
