KITTY WIPED THE SWEAT ON her brow with the back of her hand.

It was closing time after yet another exhausting evening at The Bear. This time, however, Carmy's yells were surprisingly scattered throughout the evening, rather than blown up during one huge argument. There was just something about him. As if he had come to the realisation of something. Like he had made up his mind about a decision that had been glued to his thoughts for far too long. Although now, his yells could be heard occasionally from the outside – what about this time, Kitty was too exhausted to care right now.

Kitty sighed and leaned the mop against the wall. She turned to Tina with a tired smile on her face.

"I just need a breather," Kitty said, feeling way too hot.

Tina looked up at her, smirking to herself, "Congratulations."

Kitty had been about to turn and exit through the back door, when she stopped and looked back at Tina, her brows furrowing, "Huh?"

Tina folded her arms and stared at Kitty with a knowing look, "I can tell – call it, mother's intuition," She walked over to the younger woman and placed a hand on her arm, squeezing and grinning up at her, "I'm happy for you. And don't worry – I won't tell anyone."

Kitty let out a sigh, "Thank you," She nodded, smiling gratefully.

"Go, you look paler than usual."

Kitty nodded and finally exited the restaurant through the back door. Staring in confusion when she saw Sydney and Carmy already out there. Their voices dying down the second Kitty stepped through the door.

"What the hell's going on here?" She asked, slowly closing the door behind her and coming outside.

She spotted the cigarette dangling from Syd's fingers and knew that something wasn't right. Sydney had never been a smoker, so why she started up now meant that whatever the hell the conversation consisted of, it certainly wasn't good.

"He's quitting," Sydney scoffed, gesturing loosely towards Carmy.

Kitty's eyes widened. Her head snapped in his direction. Watching as he lowered his head and sighed.

"Is that true?" Kitty asked, slowly taking a step closer.

Carmy sighed and looked up at her, nodding, "Yeah."

Kitty just stared at him.

Utter disbelief.

She couldn't believe it. He had changed everything about The Beef, turning it into a fancy restaurant that only he wanted and now he was about to get up and leave them whilst they were in the midst of a money crisis?
