"We've got idiots fighting non-stop on the streets these days." Fat Gum said, eating a whole tin of circular food. "Can't eat enough to keep up. Anyway, the agencies around here have been wanting a close combat type. You two are just what the doctor ordered, Red Riot. Niri."
"You know you can count on me." I winked at him. He chuckled and gave me a thumbs up. I glanced over at Tamaki and he did the same. Though he looked like he was going to throw up from the crowd.
"I promise I'll do my best." The red haired boy slammed his fists together. "Fourth Kind doesn't accept work study students, so I really appreciate you taking me on."
"If only Mirio'd been around. Man. Your persistence was terrifying." Tamaki spoke up, shivering at the memory.
"We're gonna work on those delicate nerves of yous, Tamaki, and then you'll be worth your weight in gold." The circular man said.
"Your expectations only drag me deeper into despair. It's always like this." Tamaki groaned, putting his hands on his chest and then on his face. "I swear, The man scouted me just so he'd have someone to torment. I wanna go home..."
"Maybe he's trying to encourage you. That's what mentors are supposed to do, right?" Kirishima turned to the indigo haired boy.
"Mr. Fat Gum isn't a villain. I agree with Eijiro." I patted the boy's back. He glanced up at me and shook his head. I sighed in response.
"Fat, come eat at our place!" Someone shouted from a food stand. I glanced over at the stranger, the aroma of food wafting into my nose.
"Tomorrow!" The pro hero replied.
"I'm not like you two or Mirio. Positivity's not my strong suit." The anxious boy said, staring at the palm of his hands.
"Tamaki, trust me when I say I'm still trying to be optimistic about stuff." I stretched my arms out in front of me. I heard something calling out but I couldn't quite decipher what it was. I couldn't tell figure out if it was friendly or not.
"Hey, man I know how it is. Sometimes when things get crazy, I feel useless, too. There's a gap between me and my classmates that's only getting wider. But I'm doin' my best to close that gap so I can fight beside them!" Kirishima said. I had no idea he felt that way...
"That right there. That's called positivity, first year." Tamaki replied, his hands making their way back to his sides. My ears twitched, picking up on aggressive movement.
"They're fighting! Someone, help!" Someone shouted from the crowd. So it wasn't friendly at all. Of course it wasn't...
"Oh, at it again." Fat Gum turned around.
"What're you going after them for?" One of the Yakuza men asked. I narrowed my eyes at them as they ran.
"Idiots thought they could sell on my turf without permission!" Another one replied angrily.
"Can't blame us for tryin' to make some cash. Come on, we gotta eat jsut like anyone else!" Another one replied. "Let's split up for now!"
"Fat, stand in front of that alley on my count." I directed the older man. He nodded and waited for my signal. When I nodded at him smirked.
"Not so fast." Fat Gum stepped out in front of the hoodlums, stopping them in their tracks as they ran right into his stomach.
"It's Fat!" One of them exclaimed.
"Mr. Fat's got a little hug for ya." He squeezed them into his stomach. One slipped out while the others stayed trapped. "Whoops, lost one. Looks like he's got the same quirk as Edge."
