"Izumi!" I heard his voice before I felt his big arms wrap around me, though I already knew it was coming. I heard each footstep as he approached and as he did, I also heard his heartbeat get louder and louder the closer he got.
"Hey, Mirio." I replied, wrapping my arms around him. I relaxed in his arms immediately, taking him in. I might've cried if I hadn't mentally prepared myself to see him.
I thought seeing him would remind me of that horrible day when he was covered in his own blood. But his smile distracted me from everything as he acted like nothing had happened. Maybe I've been stuck on all of the wrong things this entire time.
"Glad to see you're still kicking around, ready to see Eri?" He asked, his usual smile plastered on his face. It seemed to be contagious as it passed onto me.
"Yeah, I'm excited to see her. She's probably in need of some familiar faces." I replied, walking side by side with him, Izuku trailing behind. We talked about anything and everything as we walked down the hospital hallway.
"Wait, you like the guy that looks like a Pomeranian?" Mirio asked, causing me to blush as I shoved him slightly.
"I mean, I wouldn't say that. I just think he's pretty cool." I replied, fiddling with the hem of my red button up shirt.
"Izumi, if it makes you feel better... Kacchan clearly has a soft spot for you." Izuku told me, chiming into the conversation. I was glad when we arrived at Eri's room because I did not want to talk about this subject anymore. If this continued, I'd never be able to leave with my pride.
The door slid open, revealing the little girl sitting on the hospital bed. The light from the window shined down on her, illuminating her red eyes. The same red eyes that reminded me of a certain blonde haired maniac.
"Eri!" The three of us exclaimed, calling out to get her attention as we stepped into the room.
"Sorry we couldn't come see you sooner." Izuku apologized as we all approached the girl's bed. We probably seemed different to her due to our lack of hero clothes and more comfortable clothes.
"We brought you some yummy snacks, though." Mirio spoke up from beside the green haired boy, his usual smile plastered on his face. "Hope you're feeling hungry!"
"You look so adorable." I complimented her, moving closer to her bed. Her eyes gleamed with something unfamiliar as she turned away.
"I'm adorable?" She asked, finally using her little voice. My heart melted at her words. I hope that bastard, Overhaul, dies.
"Of course." I smiled at her, reaching my hand out. I stopped myself quickly, hesitant to touch her. I don't want to remind her of any unpleasant memories.
"What's your favorite fruit?" Mirio asks, cutting through the silence. "Oh, no! Lemme guess! Peaches are your fav, right? Cause you're a peach!"
"Apples." She spoke up, holding the basket of fruits. I held back my laughter at Mirio's face as he had gotten it so wrong.
"Yeah, that's what I meant." He winked at her. "Let's get this sucker peeled for ya! It'll be delicious."
"Here." I used my sleeve to wipe some juice off of her chin from the apples. She pulled back slightly at first but leaned back in when she realized what I was doing. I gave her a soft smile, sitting on a stool in between Mirio and Izuku.
"This whole time, even when I had a fever, all I could think about was how much you did for me. How you saved me." She spoke up again, fiddling with the hospital bed's sheets. "But... I don't even know what to call you. I know Lemmilion's name, but that's it. So, who are you guys?"
