It had been seven days since John B was arrested, and five days since Sarah had seen him. Kie had to physically drag her out of the jail, as she cried leaving John B behind. She knew that it would be awhile until they would reunite, and her hormones were not helping the waterworks that flowed effortlessly down her flushed cheeks. Sarah had spent the past five days horribly depressed, she could barely make it to Kie's downstairs living room, much less do anything else. He was her support in everything. Seeing his face was a pick me up after a painful day, but she didn't have that sense of comfort any longer. As much as she was hurt by John B's actions, she could never let herself stay mad at him for too long. As much as she hated to admit it, he could get away with anything and she'd still find herself by his side. She knew he had regrets, but that didn't solve their current predicament, and surely didn't lessen her disappointment in his current choices.
Kie had been in and out for the past five days. She would bring Sarah to The Wreck, trying to get her mind off of things as much as she could. Sarah had sent out messages to everyone invited to their baby shower that it was off, claiming she had been struggling with morning sickness and would not have been able to make it through a party even if she tried. If they were in tune with the latest in town though, they could have easily found out the other reason Sarah and John B had to postpone the shower. Today was finally the trial, and being able to physically see John B, gave Sarah optimism in getting out of bed. She got dressed, gave her hair a soft curl, and did some light makeup, pairing the entire look with a sundress that hugged her five-month pregnant belly in a way John B would have swooned over. She smiled, running her right hand along the soft fabric of the dress, turning to the side to admire her bump. As much as the changes in her body had once stressed her out, she had grown fond of her bump that carried a piece of them everywhere she went. Smoothing out her dress, she felt the soft kick of their daughter, making her smile in the full length mirror. "Hey hunny bunny." She whispered, looking down. "Mommy's here angel." She felt her eyes well up, not able to speak a comment about John B aloud, struggling to keep it together. She knew tears would find their way out today, so she figured she could save the dehydration for now. "We are gonna see daddy today." She cooed, taking a deep breath as she gave herself one more look over and walked out of Kie's room. She had been staying with Kie for the entire week, unable to go back to their house without him. Kie was downstairs making breakfast when she heard Sarah make her way down the stairs to the kitchen island. "Hey girl, how are you doing?" Kie asked, turning around from her spot in front of the stove. "I'm okay. Hopeful, I guess." Sarah said, giving her a faint smile in an attempt to convince her she was being honest. Kie nodded, knowing it was going to be a tough day, and didn't need someone prying at her and telling her that she wasn't being honest. Kie was able to read Sarah like that.
"How'd you sleep?" Sarah asked, placing her palms atop the kitchen island as she stretched her back. "Shouldn't I be asking you?" Kie questioned, raising her eyebrows, furrowing them quickly at Sarah's position. "What are you-" Sarah cut her off. "My back is killing me, where's John B when you need him, huh? He usually has this taken care of." Sarah laughed, rubbing the small of her back, working at a big knot she had acquired overnight. "Don't tell me that's code for him 'taking care of you.'" Kie said as she air quoted the last part. "What?" Sarah laughed, completely not seeing it how Kie had. "Is that some code for how good the sex is?" Kie giggled, focusing back on the eggs she was frying on the stove. "I didn't mean it like that, but sure. He does take care of-" Kie gagged. "Nope. No. This is John B we're talking about, I don't wanna hear about it." Sarah giggled at Kie's antics. "I'm pregnant. How do you think this happened?" Sarah asked, trying to control her laughter as Kie shook her head. "Oh girl, I know." Kie laughed, thinking back to the time they all lived together. "Whatcha making for breakfast?" Sarah asked her, glancing over her shoulder, smelling something cooking on the stove. "Just some eggs. I made extra, did you want some?" Kie asked her, turning her head slightly. "If I can keep them down, I'd love some." Sarah laughed, rubbing her bump hoping she would be able to keep some food down today, since it was going to be a long one. "How are you feeling?" Kie asked, "Emotionally and physically." She clarified. Sarah nodded, taking a bite of the scrambled eggs Kie had handed her. "Better. I have hope for today, and I'm happy I get to see him, even if it is from afar." Sarah took a sip of her water, finishing her first bite. "Physically, I don't feel like I want to vomit right now, so I will take that as a positive." She smiled. Kie made her way around the island and sat down next to her as they ate.
