Tonight, was a Disney movie rewatch kind of night. John B and Sarah sat in their living room; Val nestled up between them. They were currently watching Monsters Inc, a staple in Sarah's book, but John B had never seen it. Sarah stopped acting surprised when he told her he hadn't seen many of her favorite childhood movies long ago. Big John wasn't the type to watch movies that strayed from his treasuring hunting lifestyle. Safe to say John B grew up watching Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones, but not much else on Disney. John B was invested, yet Val's eyes were beginning to droop, fighting to stay awake to finish the movie. Val snuggled up into John B's chest, Sarah's hand resting protectively over them both.

They were nearing the ending scene, and after Sulley and Boo's journey together, they had to say goodbye. Boo was a child, and Sulley was a monster; their paths were not supposed to cross in the way they had. Instead, they had become emotionally attached to one another, bonding throughout the entirety of the movie. The ending scene consisted of Boo finding her door, and Sulley having to say goodbye. They would likely never see each other again. John B could not cope with this. Sarah, having known the ending, looked over at her husband and daughter as they both were experiencing the ending for the first time. Sarah noticed John B's glassy eyes, turning her head to the left to look at him.

"You cry?" She whispered, glancing between his eyes and their daughter who had lost interest in the movie, fully snuggling into John B's chest letting exhaustion overcome her. He nodded, struggling to form words as he watched the credits roll through, now that the movie had concluded. "That's it?" He asked as Sulley's face lit up to the sound of Boo's voice. "That's it my love," she told him, leaning in to press her lips to his cheek, careful not to crush Val between them. "Sarah, what do you mean, that's it? He doesn't get to be with Boo?" He asked, wiping his eyes as a few tears had fallen.

"If that's how you want it to end, you can have it end that way, my love. It's all up to you." She whispered, her face still close to his as he felt her warm breath on his lips. "But what do you mean we don't know? I don't like that." He told her, still watching the credits, hoping there would be a closing scene that confirmed Sulley and Boo could be together. "I'm sorry love, I didn't write it." She giggled, loving how concerned he was with the ending; his soft side really shining through right now. "But I seriously cannot imagine losing my Vallie girl." He whispered, shaking his head. He finally turned to look at her, holding their eye contact before leaning down to kiss Val's hair. She stirred slightly but settled right back into John B's chest as she sighed. "You aren't losing Val. She's right here. She's safe." Sarah smiled; the little Routledge family wrapped up in each other on their living room couch, safe and sound.

"I would search the ends of this Earth to find every last piece of a shredded door to find my baby. I would never give up. For both of you." John B muttered, patting Val's head as she slept. He had come far too close to losing Sarah too many times, and he would do everything in his power to keep his girls safe in every way that he could. "Oh baby, I know you would. You just love us so much." Sarah smiled, poking his side as she teased him. "Sar, this is serious. I will do anything to keep you both safe." He assured her, indicating how serious he was, despite his still glassy eyes. "Babe, I love how you went from Mr. Softie to our number one protector. I love every version of you, husband." She whispered, bumping her nose aganist his, breathing in his intoxicating scent. He closed the gap, letting their lips meet in a slow, tender kiss, a promise that he would keep them safe no matter what.

Trying to get closer to him, Sarah shifted, still trying to maintain the gap for their sleeping daughter without crushing her frame. "Sar, shouldn't we put Val to bed? Can we go upstairs?" He uttered out, a mere inch from her lips, his hot breath only making her want to spend the rest of the evening in his arms. "Yeah, I guess we should complete our parenting tasks and then we can have our fun." She giggled against him, pushing herself up off of the couch. John B carefully held onto Val, standing up with her still in his grasp. "Shh...baby you can sleep sweetheart." He whispered, cradling their three-year-old daughter who was starting to stir at the sudden movements.

He carried her up the stairs quickly, making a beeline for their hall bathroom, ensuring Val brushed her teeth before they put her down for the night. Sarah followed him, walking into the hall bath to help out for the nightly routine. "Baby girl, we need to brush those teeth," John B whispered as he sat her down, Val rubbing her eyes softly. "Hey sweetheart, good mornin' angel." Sarah laughed, grabbing Val's toddler Barbie toothbrush and toothpaste, beginning to brush her teeth for her. "Mommy, I tired. I want to sleep..." She told her, her baby voice something the pair loved the sound of.

Val's hair was a mess; she looked like she had just been disturbed from the best rest of her life, and her parents too wanted to get her to bed so they could get their own rest. "All done?" John B asked, glancing between Val and Sarah. They nodded simultaneously, and Val, the perfect mini-me of his wife, was something he adored every day. "Oh, my girls," he admired, grabbing Sarah's hand on his left, and Val's on his right, leading them down the hall and into Val's bedroom. "Do we need a bedtime story or are you too tired, sweetheart?" John B asked Val. "I wanna sleep..daddy.." She whispered, hoping into her surfboard toddler bed John B had built for her when she upgraded from a crib to the big girl bed.

"Alright, sweetheart we will let you sleep." Sarah whispered, as they both leaned up on the side of her bed, knees digging into the carpet. Sarah leaned in and placed a soft kiss on Val's forehead, John B following right after. "Goodnight baby, we love you." Sarah whispered, blowing her a kiss as they got up, walking out of her room. "Goodnight sweet Val, get some rest, angel." John B said, shutting the door behind them as they made their way down the hall to their bedroom. "Do we really need to shower?" Sarah asked, just wanting to crawl into bed with him and finish what they had started on the couch. "No, baby, let's just sleep." He told her, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward their queen bed.

Crawling into their bed, Sarah peeled back the covers and got comfy, as he mirrored her, just on the opposite side. "I just love how sweet you are." Sarah muttered out, their faces facing each other as they layed on their sides. She readjusted, letting their foreheads touch as she breathed him in again, just thinking about how lucky she was to have him care for her and their daughter in the way that he did. "I will always be sweet for you guys. You are my whole world. And we created an extension of that world. I will do whatever I can to keep you both safe." He told her, bringing his right hand up to cup her face, drawing her closer to him. "I love you, Sar," he reminded as he connected their lips, a sweet kiss that started innocent, until she was biting his bottom lip, begging for entrance. He granted her it immediately, letting the kiss deepen as his body was drawn closer to her. "John B.." Sarah breathed out, pulling back slightly in an attempt to catch her breath. "We don't deserve you." She told him, their lips separated now, but their foreheads still attached.

"You will always deserve me. I don't deserve you Sarah, you brought me Val, brought me a joy I never thought possible. I am so thankful for everything that led us to this moment right here. And I'm sorry for not watching Disney movies growing up, I promise Val will be well versed in that realm." John B assured her, her giggling against him. "You bet she will. I love you, thank you for our little family we have. Not a day goes by that I take it for granted." She whispered, brushing her lips against his again, a promise that they would always fight for each other in every universe, even in a universe where monsters go around scaring children for a paycheck.
