The past three weeks came and went, Sarah's due date had passed, and their daughter was due any day now. As expected, Sarah's gunshot wound scar flared up, causing her extreme distress and pain for the last three weeks. Now, Sarah lay sprawled out with her arm draped over John B's frame, her hair displayed across the pillow as she slept. John B had woken up before her, intertwining his hand with hers atop his chest. Rubbing his thumb across the top of her hand, Sarah began to stir as she rolled over to face him. Meeting her eyes instantly, he smiled as he greeted her good morning. "Hey baby." John B whispered as he moved closer to her face, leaning in to kiss her, sweetly. Breaking apart slightly, she whispered, "Good morning baby." Smiling against his lips.
"How are you feeling?" John B asked her, searching her eyes for the answer to his question. "I'm okay..." She started, hoping to convince him she wasn't in pain, even though she could feel the start of another episode beginning. "Hey, hey.. talk to me." He told her gently, quickly noticing her eyes glaze over. "It's nothing. I've caused enough turmoil for you. I'm so sorry you have to deal with me." Sarah told him honestly, feeling awful for always being in pain, and him always having to take care of her. "What? Baby no. I want to take care of you. Plus, you are carrying my baby, it's kind of a fair trade off." He told her as he brought her close to his chest so that he could embrace her. Snaking his arms around her shoulders and to her front, his hands found her bump. Grazing his hands along the front of her night set, he slowly slid up her shirt. Feeling his bare hands on her belly felt heavenly as Sarah leaned into his touch. "I'm so sorry baby, I wish I could take away all of your pain." John B whispered in her ear as he continued to rub across her skin. Looking down at her glassy eyes from his spot behind her, he noticed the smallest tear glide down her face, falling onto the pillow underneath her. "I'm feeling insecure." She said, barely above the faintest whisper.
"Sarah, can you turn around for me?" He asked her as he loosened his hands around her belly. Shifting over and turning to face him, Sarah quickly found his eyes, unsure where he was going to take this conversation. Holding her back far enough to fully take in her features, John B smiled slightly. "Please" Kiss "Don't" Kiss "Ever" Kiss "Talk" Kiss "Like that." He finished as he planted one last kiss on her lips. "You are the most beautiful woman a man could ever ask for. Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to see your scars." John B told her tenderly, thankful for their connection that ran much deeper than physicality. They were soul tied, and nothing could tear them apart. "You are so good to me." She replied as a soft smile tugged at her lips, beginning to take over her features. "There's that smile." He told her as he cupped her face in his hands, softly rubbing her cheeks. Maintaining eye contact, John B noticed Sarah's slight wince, and felt her bring her hand up to her bump. John B knew Sarah better than she knew herself, and he knew what was about to happen.
"Shit." She whispered as her eyes closed, rolling onto her back once more and laying her head back, trying to take control of the pain before it got unbearable. "Baby, here let's get you on your back." John B said as he rubbed her arms, trying to take her mind off of the situation. "It's the position, I literally can only lay flat." Sarah said aloud as tears threatened to spill out of her eyes. "Hey, hey, don't cry, angel." John B said sweetly. "How about I go and get you your pain meds, and we have a day in?" He offered, hoping he would be able to convince her to rest, instead of pushing herself as she often did. "I'm fine." She said as she gritted her teeth, trying to stifle a groan, in an attempt to deter the attention from her. "Baby, no you're not-"
