CHAPTER FOUR--
While stocking boxes of cereal, Julie feels a hand tapping on her hip. It scares her and she lets out a quiet scream, throwing her hand back and hitting the person in the face with a box as a reflex. She hears a groan and instantly climbs off the ladder-thing to help the person stand back up. "I'm so sorry, you scared me and I've got - Luke?" She scrunches her eyebrows when she realizes it's him.
"Hi," he chuckles painfully, holding his cheek. She grimaces, a guilty expression on her face.
"I'm so sorry. Here, let me see," she mumbles, taking his hand away from his face and runs her fingers over the spot she hit. "Yeah, a bruise might form there." She takes her bottom lip in her mouth and shifts her gaze from his cheek to his eyes before coughing quietly and taking a step backwards. "I'm sorry," she apologizes again.
"It's alright, I'm fine," he assures her with another chuckle.
"What are you doing here?" Julie quickly stocks the last two boxes - including the one that hit Luke in the face - and looks up at him questioningly.
"I told you I'd come today, you know, when you ignored me last night," he teases and she rolls her eyes, remembering their talk from the previous day.
"I ignored you for a reason, Luke, that wasn't an invitation to show up again," she sighs and pushes past him to go to the back by the electronics, knowing Luke was going to start following her.
"Well, if you would've just told me that, maybe I wouldn't have showed up," he shrugs innocently and Julie scoffs.
"That's a lie and you and I both know it."
"Okay, you're obviously mad about the condoms, but if you'll let me explain -"
"Luke, there's nothing to explain. I don't care if you sleep around, it's who you are and I'm not going to try and change that. I just don't want to be involved with that. Or you," she mutters the last part quietly, but Luke still heard it.
"Juliette, -"
"It's Julie, Luke, stop calling me Juliette." She tugs at her hair in annoyance.
"I like your name, though, and I'm the only one who calls you that, so I feel pretty special," he shrugs with a small grin.
"The special feeling you got there is completely undeserved," she snorts. "I've gotta get back to work, so I'd appreciate it if you would leave me alone." She gives him a meaningless smile before trying to walk away. Luke grabs her hand and tugs her back to him, pulling her a little too close. She instantly pushes away from him and meets his eyes with a glare.
"Can I explain now?" He grins, obviously unfazed by her glare.
"Why do you want to explain to me? Why do you even care how I feel about the condom thing?" She huffs and crosses her arms as Luke quickly licks his lips.
"Because, I -" He hesitates, scrunching his eyebrows, "I don't want you not liking me because of a misunderstanding."
"Fine, explain whatever it is you need to explain, just make it quick."
"I was just joking when I said I was out of the condoms, I promise, I've only used four, and I'm pretty sure Michael took one. There's still five condoms in that box," he mumbles out quickly.
"Okay, so you've used four condoms in seven days? I mean, that's better, but that's still, you know, four different girls within seven days. How are they supposed to feel?" Even though she shouldn't, Julie actually felt a little sympathy for the four random girls.
