CHAPTER SIX--
"How was work?" Julie questions as Mae walks in the following night.
"You know how much I love sitting at a desk all day, practically repeating the same three phrases over and over again." Mae grins sarcastically and Julie lets out an amused chuckle. "By the way, your boyfriend and his buddies came. They're loud."
"Luke?" She scrunches her eyebrows and Mae nods. "Well, I've never met the rest of the boys - except Calum for a brief moment - so I couldn't really judge that," she shrugs, taking a sip from her drink.
"Didn't even say anything about me calling Luke your boyfriend. Noted," Mae giggles before taking Julie's drink and taking a sip.
"Stop that," Julie demands, taking the drink back.
"Why are you drinking a smoothie at nine thirty at night?"
"Because why the hell not? So judgmental." She sticks her tongue out at her best friend.
"So, what exactly is going on with you and Luke?" Mae questions, a curious expression on her face.
"Nothing?" Julie bites at her straw lightly, meeting Mae's eyes.
"Oh, come on, something has to be going on," Mae snorts.
"Luke is just a huge flirt." Mae raises her eyebrows, telling her to explain. "Like, yesterday, I introduced him to Charlotte, because she practically demanded it." Julie stops to laugh when Mae rolls her eyes in annoyance. "And when she walked away, he didn't even try and hide the fact that he was staring at her ass."
"Seems like a lovely fellow," Mae grins and Julie rolls her eyes.
"He's not that bad, but sometimes, he's just awful and I kinda want to punch him in the face," she shrugs.
"Are you gonna date him?" Mae wonders as Julie stirs her smoothie with the straw.
"I'm pretty sure he's not into commitment, that's why I don't want to involve myself with him any more than a friendship honestly," Julie explains.
"So, you would date him if he wasn't such a fuckboy?" Julie laughs at her friend and nods with a shrug. "Does this mean you like him?" Mae gasps, grinning widely.
"No, it does not mean I like him," Julie scoffs, "It just means if he was less of a dick and wasn't so flirty with every girl he encounters, then maybe it's possible that I could like him." She shrugs again. Her phone buzzes with a notification before Mae could say anything in reply.
"Is that your boyfriend?" Mae laughs, gesturing towards Julie's phone and Julie reads the texts without replying to her.
