CHAPTER SIXTEEN
--
Luke walks into his kitchen where Calum and Michael are stood against one of the counters in the middle of a conversation and they both look up when they notice their friend's presence. "How was your date?" Michael's lips pull into a knowing smirk as he questions the blond who scrunches his eyebrows in confusion.
"Why are you asking me like that?" He questions, walking past the two of them to the fridge to grab a bottle of water.
"Did you fuck her? Is she still upstairs?" Luke snaps his eyes up to meet Michael's, surprised at his bluntness as Calum snorts in amusement.
"No..." Luke trails slowly and this time it's Michael who is confused. "It was my first date with her, Michael, what kind of question is that?"
"Luke's trying commitment this time," Calum fills Michael in and he instantly lets out a laugh.
"It's not funny, Michael." Luke's lips form a small pout after Michael manages to suppress his laughter.
"Oh, come on, Luke," Michael shrugs, "you know you couldn't stay committed to one girl even if you tried. It's just not you." Luke shrugs as well, playing with the plastic cap to the water bottle.
"Well, I'm trying to for Julie. She's important enough to me for me to be willing to stay in a committed relationship, so I don't need you and your comments about my tendencies with girls because I know and she knows, okay?" Luke huffs out quickly and Michael rolls his eyes.
"She's important to you? You've known the girl for, what? Three weeks? You're getting too attached to her way too quickly, man." Michael shakes his head. "And she's cool, I don't want you screwing with emotions and breaking her heart."
"I didn't say I was in love with her, I just said she's important to me, is that so bad, Michael? And I'm not gonna break her heart, okay? I know how to treat a girl." Calum opens his mouth to speak up but Luke shoots him a glare before he could and he stays quiet, only letting out a short chuckle.
"So, she's gonna be perfectly fine when we leave for America in less than a month?" Michael challenges, his eyebrows raising expectantly.
"Michael, oh my god, shut up," Luke mutters in annoyance. "Do you just not want me to ever be in a relationship then? Because we leave Australia a lot? What about Ashton and Bryana, they're perfectly fine and Ashton's always leaving," he rebuttals, crossing his arms over his chest after putting his water bottle down.
"Because Ashton loves Bryana and he's not gonna cheat on her," Michael shrugs again and Calum lets out a groan because Michael shouldn't have said that.
"You think if I were to be in a relationship with Julie, I would cheat on her?" Luke scoffs with a shake of his head in disbelief.
"Luke, I'm not trying to offend you, but you play girls too much to bring Julie into this." Luke just shakes his head again and quickly leaves the kitchen, grabbing his keys on the way out, his water forgotten. A slam of the front door moments later tells Calum and Michael that he left.
...
"Sir, are you looking for something?" Luke's head snaps over at the sound of someone's voice only to see a grinning Julie and he rolls his eyes in amusement.
