2 years ago, Alexandria was overrun with walkers. Ron watched his family be torn apart. And when he saw a walker coming towards Carl, the love of Ron's life, he pulled Out his gun to shoot the walker.
But Ron had little experience with guns, and m...

It had been two years since the defeat of Simon and the saviors. It felt far longer. The war seemed like a distant memory - one most wanted to forget.
With the arrival of new group members to each community, the legend of Negan Smith and his saviors grew more and more grand each day. People traveled from the hilltop or kingdom just to catch a glimpse of any remaining saviors. Most of them lived in Alexandria.
Negan was still in his cell while Laura had moved into Alexandria after the total collapse of the sanctuary. The old factory couldn't grow food. The saviors numbers dwindled fast after their leaders were removed. Some died while others left for a better life.
Dwight, Sherry, and Tina still lived off on their own. Ron and Laura visited them on occasion. They didn't want to hear about Negan, understandably so. Frankie, Amber, and Tanya were still around. Frankie had moved to the kingdom with Amber. Last Ron heard, Amber and Benjamin had started dating. He was much closer to her age than her ex husband. Tanya was the only savior to find a home in the hilltop. With Maggie leading the place, the group tended to be hostile to any savior. She had sympathy for Negan's ex wife.
Alden was another savior who had moved into Alexandria. He turned out to be the secret boyfriend Enid had. As he dated Enid, Ron got to know him much better than he very had in their savior days.
Those interested in the saviors didn't tend to gawk at Negan's ex wives or low ranking members like Alden. Some people didn't even know Alden had been a member. It wasn't something he advertised. They were far more interested in Negan himself, as well as his allegedly immune sidekick. More and more people Ron had never seen in his life were coming up to ask him questions. Some simply wanted to know if he had actually survived being bitten while others seemed to want his whole life story.
The bird tattooed on Ron's wrist had gone from a mark to show his loyalty to one that invited people to stare at him. It seemed to denote him to a lower social status than others. People seemed to think it was ok to treat the saviors as less than. That was how they had treated them after all.
Things had changed a lot in short space of time. Alexandria looked completely different than it used to. New homes had been built, as well as new meeting room and windmill. Hilltop had been expanding as well. Their gardens grew past the original gates now. The women of Oceanside had been doing quite well for themselves, or so Ron had been told. He didn't go there himself. Anyone who had been in Negan's inner circle was banned from the place. It wasn't officially that way, but Ron knew better than to test it out.
Unlike their counterparts, the kingdom had not been prospering. Ron couldn't count how many times he had gone over there to help patch pipes and holes in the walls. He refused to just leave them there on their own. Ezekiel and Jerry had shown him the most kindness of just about anyone he had ever met. They had done this even when he was firmly a savior. They were like family to him. Jerry felt almost like an older brother, the same way Aaron and Eric did. Jerrys kids were nieces and a nephew to him. They even started to call him uncle Ron recently. Despite Carl's wishes, Ron had grown closer to Shiva as well. The tiger seemed to love the boy. Something about his bites made animals like him.
