I run to the plane bathroom to throw up for the 4th time since we've gotten on. Luckily Court is the only other person awake.
"You sure you're okay?" She asks handing me some tissue and water "This is the 4th time you've done this."
I lean back against the closed door "Yeah, it must just be nerves. We still have to get approved by the adoption people."
"You two don't need to worry about that. You're already the perfect parents." She rubs my back as we walk back to our seats. I finally fall back asleep, and when I wake up we're already in Pennsylvania.
This is the trip where we hopefully get approved for adoption and can start the process. We asked Court and David to bring Coco and come with for support. They've actually been considering adoption too since they haven't been able to have any more since Coco.
"Court, can you come with me quickly?" I start walking towards a store in the airport. She follows me closely behind "What are you doing?"
"I need to buy something." I walk through the store until I find the pregnancy tests.
"Jen, are you okay?" She jumps in front of me and the tests "You do know why we're all here, right?"
"Yes," I grab a box and look at them "But, earlier when I was sick I realized that I never got my period as month, and I should have gotten it yesterday. Last month I just thought it was stress, but what if it wasn't?"
"Oh my God." She looks like she just got the best news ever "Good luck, I hope they're really positive!"
"Thanks." I pay for the tests and we meet Justin, David and the kids at our hotel across the street. We have a two room suit so the kids can sleep in one room and us in the other. I walk in and Kay and Ben are sleeping and Justin is sitting on the bed with a room service tray in front of him.
"Hey, I was gonna wait for you but I got hungry." Justin hands me the salad he got for me.
I take a bite from it and right away feel nauseated and look for the closet garbage can. I run up to it throwing up what's left in my stomach.
"Are you okay?" He hands me some water "Was there something wrong with it?"
"No," I sit up and pull myself together "I have to tell you something. It's really important." He sits there silent so I decide its time to tell him "I've been sick all morning, and realized that with all the adoption stuff I never got my period last month and it's late this month." I watch his expressions carefully "I'm pregnant, babe! I took a test about 20 minutes ago."
"Really?!?" He asks me shocked "You mean it finally worked?"
"Yes!" I'm sobbing because I'm so happy and emotional right now "We're finally going to have our baby!"
He pulls me as close as he can hugging me "You have no idea how happy I am that this is finally happening! I really thought it wasn't going to work." He's now crying as well. This has been such an emotional journey for both of us.
"I didn't think it was going to work either." I look up at him into his eyes "But what do we do now? They already had us paired with a potential child."
"Well, we just have to tell them what happened." He tries to think this whole situation through "This happens all the time, but maybe Courteney and David will be able to take that kid. You know they're amazing parents too and deserve it."
"Yeah, that would be cool if that would happen." I look up at him and kiss him "I love you."
"I love both of you." He kisses me back. He's so cute when he adds the baby into things like that. He used to do it with Kay and Ben all the time. We separate so that we can get dressed to meet with the adoption lady and tell her that we won't be going through with the adoption anymore.
We follow a secretary into the office. Court and David are in the waiting room with the kids since we haven't told the adoption lady yet. The office is bright, and has a beautiful view of the wooded area behind it. We take our seats at the chairs in front of the desk and are told that Karen, the adoption lady will be here soon. I feel bad because we took up all her time to now have to tell her that we won't be following through with the adoption, but we have to do it. There's no way we'd be able to handle 4 kids.
"Hi, Mr & Mrs. Theroux, thanks for meeting me today." Karen walks in and sits across from us. It's so weird being called "Mrs. Theroux" when I'm so used to being called "Jen". She looks across from us "I hear from my assistant that you have changed your mind about adoption."
"Yes," I look from Justin to her "We found out this morning that I'm pregnant, and as much as we liked the idea of adopting we don't think we're fit to handle 4 kids."
"I understand." She hands us some paper work to fill out "This happens to many people. They stop stressing about conceiving the baby and then end up finding out that they're pregnant."
Justin hands her the finished papers when we're done "We are really sorry for the inconvenience, but we do know a couple who is already approved by the adoption agency. They're actually with us now and would like to talk to you if that's okay."
"That would actually be perfect." She surprises us with how happy this makes us "They just need to fill out paper work and we can hopefully help them." She leads us out of her office snd into the waiting room where everyone is. We decide that since Court and David are going to need to talk to her we'll take the kids out to find something to do.
"Coco, make sure you hold onto the stroller. There are lots of people here and we don't want to lose you." I'm pushing Ben in his stroller and Justin is next to me carrying Kay. We're trying to fins something to do with the kids since Courteney and David could take awhile. We thought we could just walk around and show them things, but apparently there is some fair going on and hundreds of people are here.
"This place has changed so much since I lived here," I look at Justin who is busy looking around at everything "I used to go in that shop all the time for sandwiches. They were my favorites."
He starts walking towards it "I'm hungry, let's go get some." This surprises me, but I follow him. We walk in and it reminds me of my childhood and when I used to come here.
"Wow, this looks the same." I look around at the setup and decorations. Someone walks up from the back and I walk up to him immediately. George, the owner.
"Jennifer?" He asks like he's shocked to see me "It's been so long!" I walk over and hug him then motion for Justin to bring the kids "I just happened to be in town and thought we should stop by."
"It's great to see you!" He obviously excited to see me, as I am him. I notice him looking at Justin confused "This is my husband Justin, and my two kids Kayleigh and Bentley." I then point to Coco "This is my best friends daughter, Coco." They all say hi to each other, and I order all of us our food.
"This is a cool place," Justin says as we sit down "I can see why you liked it so much. The food is good too."
"This was one of my favorite places, I was so sad that I wouldn't he able to come here when we moved." I think of all the memories I have of being here "It's so weird that it was like 30 years ago when I would come here all the time." I wish our kids would have somewhere to go like this. Living in LA it's gonna be hard for them to go anywhere.
"Babe," I look up at Justin "Let's move."
