Lasting Love

This happened so fast

"Just a few more pushes," Justin holds my hand "His heads almost out." I try to push again, but give up.

"I can't." An hour ago I was going on with my day like normal, and now I'm in the middle of giving birth to our son and can't do it. My bones feel like they're crushed and my vagina is tearing in two. Justin holds my hand as I try pushing again, and I can tell he feels horrible for me.

"You're almost done, Jennifer," the doctor looks up at me "I know he's a big baby and this is painful, but you'll be holding him soon." I wish I had the time for the pain medicine.

I push one more time for as long as I can through the excruciating pain and finally feel her start to pull him out.

"One more," Justin looks at me and grabs my hand "He has dark hair like you wanted."

I wait until my next contraction and then push as hard as I can. I keep going as I feel him being pulled out, and after the most painful minute of my life my son is placed on my chest. I lay back trying to regain strength as the nurses quickly clean him off. Justin cuts the cord and I finally sit up to hold him.

"He looks just like you!" I cry as I look up at Justin who is also crying. He's perfect. The nurse takes him to weigh and check his vitals leaving Justin and I to fill out forms.

"Do you have a name picked out?" The doctor walks up to us with birth certificate papers.

"Bentley John Theroux." I look up to see Justin smiling. We finish all the papers and the nurse brings him back over to us "Well, he's a very healthy 8 pound boy, he's gonna be big." She laughs as she leaves the room.

"He's like the size of Kay," Justin lays next to me in bed holding him "It's crazy."

I laugh. Kay is still pretty tiny even at 2 "Well, I guess her little brother will just be bigger than her." Justin hands his phone to a nurse who is walking by so she can take a picture of the three of us and then he sends it to everyone. Bentley starts crying, so I pick him up and feed him until he starts to fall asleep.

"Do you want me to have them wait to bring Kayleigh?" Justin asks as he's about to call his brother "You should get some sleep if he is, you're tired." I nod, and he leaves to call. After everything that happened in the last 2 hours I do need some sleep. I put Ben in his crib and roll over to my side shutting my eyes and take a much needed nap.

I hear voices. One is familiar and the others aren't. My eyes flutter open to see Justin sitting in the chair next to my bed holding Ben and talking to someone. The person picks up Ben to check him and I figure out that it's a nurse.

"Hey, how'd you sleep?" Justin leans in to kiss me.

"Good," I sit up a little to watch the nurse check Bentley "How long was I asleep?"

"About 2 hours. There's a very impatient little girl at home who wanted me to wake you the minute you fell asleep." He laughs as the nurse hands him Bentley "She's excited to see him, and aparently misses you and not me."

"Aw," I smile thinking of her "Tell Seb to bring her, I miss her too." He hands me Ben and goes to call.

"Hey, buddy," I say to Ben when Justin leaves "Mommy loves you so much. You're my favorite baby boy ever!" He giggles at me talking to him and about 30 minutes later my talking is interrupted by Kay running in the room.

"Hi, momma!" She yells as she climbs up on my bed holding a teddy bear "This for him." She shoves the bear in his face causing him to cry. She gets upset because she doesn't want him to cry.

"Honey, he doesn't know what that is yet." I take the bear and put it near him so he stops "See, he likes it now." Justin and Seb walk in standing next to the bed, and Kay tells them all about her new little brother.

"He a boy, and he little and his name Bentley," she tries her best to explain all this in words she can say "He my brother." She finishes with. It melts my heart how happy she is to see him. I was nervous she wouldn't be this good with him.

"You wanna hold him?" Justin asks her and she says yes. I gently put him on her lap and help make sure that his head is being held up. She leans down and kisses his forehead like Justin and I do to her, then whispers "I love you." To him. Justin and I look at each other teary eyed so happy that she's doing good with him.

"Aw, he loves you too," I tell her making her smile. She continues to talk to him while Sebastian admires him.

"He looks like you, Justin," he says after a while of silence "But his size makes me think they could have been twins."

Justin laughs "Yeah, he's definitely almost as big as she is." He hands Sebastian his phone and stands next to Kayleigh and I in bed so that we can get our first family picture with all four of us in it.
