The next morning Riley woke up feeling a bit drained but nonetheless feeling excitement bubbling within her. Riley sat up and reached over to her bedside table made of cardboard boxes. Picking up the letter given to her, she excitedly opened it. She smelled the letter and it smelled like her mom's perfume. Unfolding the purple letter, she took a deep breathe and began to read.

Dear Riley,

It's been a while. We are so sorry we can't talk to you at all. We're in a bit of a situation right now.

We hope Aunt Liv has explained all that's happening. Or most of it. Knowing that things are happening, we wish we were there to help you.

Right now, your father and I are in a different place. Somewhere other than the caverns. Don't worry about us though. We'll be alright.

We're going to visit soon. For now enjoy this little trinket we collected. It's very special and dear to us, so we hope it is equally special to you.

We love you lots Riley. Don't forget that. And no matter what, we'll always find a way to see you. We'll meet again soon.

Love,
Mom and Dad

Riley read the letter over and over again. She smiled a bit sadly and tears were in her eyes. She gasped as she pulled out the trinket her mom was talking about.

It was a gold statue of a slug decorated with multiple colourful gems. Riley held it up to the sunlight and smiled as it spread beautiful rainbow colours around the room.

The letter was carefully folded back into its envelop and tucked away into one of Riley's boxes by her bedside. Riley placed the cute gem decorated slug on her bedside table and got out of bed.

Riley's POV

One by one my slugs followed me downstairs and went to the couch to play with Eli's slugs. I found Eli sitting by Trixie's holo-computer (which I had just recently learned the correct name), his hands woven into his hair. He looked stressed out. I looked around the empty living room and no one else was here.

"Eli? What's going on?" Startled, Eli turned around and showed off dark circles and a messy mop of hair.

"Riley. I... I should explain everything," he sighed. I gave him a look of confusion and he just rubbed his eyes. I pulled up a nearby stool and sat down. "Okay, here's what happened:

"Pronto had gotten up early that morning. He didn't plan on waking up so early, so he decided to get some slinging practise in. Pronto was only five minutes into practise, when he began to feel dizzy. After that he apparently fainted. But only for a few minutes. He dragged himself back inside and tried to make some remedies to cure his sickness. He settled on tea and drank as much as he could. That's when he told me he saw you, but wasn't one hundred percent sure because apparently he was dreaming." I smiled a little sheepishly and let Eli continue.

"After he fell asleep, Trixie and Kord went downstairs. They were about to go duel and didn't give a second glance towards Pronto. They had a few good rounds in when suddenly Kord fainted. Trixie tried to help him, but she herself fainted.

"I went downstairs and found Pronto downstairs. I accidentally tripped down the stairs and it made a really loud noise. But for some reason Pronto didn't wake up. I shook him and even gave him food. Nothing happened. I left him alone and went out to find Kord and Trixie because I recalled them talking about a duel.

"I didn't walk far and found them outside in the green meadow lying there. They looked sick to their stomachs. I found it really strange that everyone had just collapsed. One by one I had to drag them back to the hideout.
