Normal POV
I roll over as two alarms blare in sync. Mine blares Green Day while Dev's is just a plain beep tone. I immediately sit up, feeling better than I had last night. I see a grumpy Devin roll over with a severe case of bed head.
"Good morning, hon!" Her phone buzzes. "Well it looks likes you've got a message there."
She grunts and grabs her phone. "Oh yeah. We're meeting Lauren and Julia at the breakfast bar downstairs in like 20 minutes." Devin hops out of bed and starts ripping through her clothes and I do the same. I decide on black Hogwarts sweatpants with a black racer back tank top with a pair of Nike track sneakers in case I feel like running on the track. My hair is pulled back in a French braid. I threw my jazz shoes, a sweatshirt, my phone, my ear buds, a random water bottle, a book, a note book, pencils, my laptop, money and my medicine (after I took it) into my bag.
Devin wore jean shorts, a plain white v-neck with a yellow sweater down to her knees. She grabs her bag and we race downstairs to the main area, trying not to be late. We get there first and collapse at the first table we find and start laughing. Moments later, Devin and I are joined by one very sleepy senior and one very peppy senior.
"Good morning!" Lauren grabs a plate and prances over to the breakfast line. Devin and I follow and Julia mopes along behind us.
"How are you so chipper this morning?" Devin asks. I laugh as Lauren randomly pirouettes in line. The confused server guy dishes a bit of eggs onto her plate after wards.
"I'm just excited for class. It's great to see my friends." She grabs a bit of bacon.
As I reach for a muffin, Julia whispers in my ear. "Personally, I think she got her eyes on a guy." I laugh nodding in agreement.
The four of us sit down at the table again and begin working through our food. By the time I finished my eggs, muffin, bacon and coffee, I'd learned that Lauren's gluten free, Julia and I were both 'lactards', Lauren has her eye on Joe Walker, Julia has feelings for Darren, Devin was on the edge for Brian, and most theatre classes are all age. We were in the middle of discussing what Lauren and Julia thought about the latest Harry Potter movie when Dev nudged me in the ribs.
"What?!" I jolted in surprise.
"Joey just walked in. Go talk to him." I look up and sure enough Joey Richter was looking back at me. We make eye contact for a second and he puts his head back down. He maneuvers through the line and I'm vaguely aware of Lauren and Julia's conversation. I see Joey grab a muffin and walk towards the doors so naturally I get up and follow.
I burst through the doors and jog to catch up to him. I slow my pace so now we're walking in sync. He's munching on the muffin he grabbed. "Hey." I say.
"Hey." Joey looks a little nervous and a little closed off.
"What class do you have?"
"History of Musical Theatre."
"Me too." I take a deep breath and put my hand on Joey's arm to stop him. "I'm sorry about last night." He raised his eyebrow at me. "I shouldn't have reacted like that. It's just the topic in question... I am just not comfortable with it."
I raise my head and look at Joey in the eye. He takes a deep breath. "I should be sorry. It's just... You're so intriguing to me and I just wanted to know you. I guess it wasn't meant to be." He casts his eyes downwards and starts walking again.
I grab is arm again and pull him back towards me. "I think you deserve to know."
He jolts and looks at me with wide eyes. "What?"
