Until about the end of October, things we at a lull. And by a 'lull' I mean things were going as normally as they do with these totally awesome people. We hung out a lot. Devin and I were nearly inseparable and we hung out with the girls (Jaime, Julia, Meredith, and Lauren) but more often it was Devin and I with Brian, AJ, and Joey.

In one of our classes, the five of us were having an intense discussion on what we should be for Halloween (in a week) when Darren shuffled into the classroom. He was wrapped in blankets and still in his pajamas and looked kind of sick for the third time since the beginning of school.

"I'm sorry, Professor, but I didn't learn my stuff today, because I'm pretty sick." He looked at the professor with his big puppy dog eyes. He took his seat which happened to be in front of me.

"You know I think I'm gonna call you Darren Crisis now." I laugh and he turns around laughing hard with me.

"That's a good one umm...." He thinks hard for a moment. "Not a British Watson."

I gave him a look that said try again, Crisis. So he tried again. "What's your middle name?"

"Agnes." He looks thoughtful.

"Charlotte Agnes Watson... C. A. W.... Caw... Bird Girl!" He quite nearly shouts. "I'm gonna call you Bird Girl."

I laugh. "I guess that works."

Later that week, at lunch with Devin, A.J., Brian and Joey when Brian and Joey invited Devin and I to their guys' party.

"So Devin, and of course Charlie," Joey winked. "What do you say to an 80s/spandex themed party?"

Devin and I exchange a bit of a weirded out look. "Sure. Why not?"

"Great!" Brian was happy. "It's at the Richter Rosenthal dorm tonight."

"Okay. So..." I say. "What do you think about Halloween costumes?"

"Well we know that the other guys will probably be super heroes or villains. So we should do something different." A.J. looked thoughtful.

"All I can figure about the girls is Lauren probably wants to be a unicorn." Devin giggled a little bit. "If that happens, the rest of them will play off that."

"How about famous British people?" I question.

Everyone nods in agreement. I could see the gears turning in all four of their heads.

"Charlotte and I should so be Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes!" exclaimed A.J. after a bit of silence.

That was a great idea. We all concurred, ideas spiraling off that and nothing quite eventful happened until that night at the party.

Devin and I walk down the hallway, only slightly terrified of what may occur tonight. With our friends, you never know. Earlier we had tried our best at finding appropriate attire. I wore spandex shorts with fishnet stockings underneath and running shoes. I wore a tank top and a bubble gum pink off the shoulder top proclaiming "Ladies of the '80s." My hair had been straightened thanks to Devin and put in a high pony tail with a thin headband across my forehead.

My roommate wore something similar. With her black leggings she wore a pair of neon pink knee socks with Converse. Her shirt was a neon yellow crop top. Devin's and my hair were done in the same fashion.

When we reach their dorm, we hear a bit of eighties music behind the closed door. Devin puts her hand on the door handle, poised to open it.

"Are you ready for this?" she asks.
