9 / Coffee

Kim Yejin - a few weeks later

Jake: Do you wanna go out and grab some coffee? ♡

I looked at my phone and saw that it was a message from Jake, at first I didn't want to reply but in the end I still got up and got ready to go out and meet him. After that I texted him back.

Me: Sure, see you in 15 minutes at the café, okay? :)

He answered right away and said that he would be there. So I got up and walked out of the house and walked to the train station. Luckily the place wasn't too far away from my home so I got there just in time. I went in and sat down while I waited for Jake who arrived a few minutes after me.

"So what do you want me to get you?" He asked me.

"I'll take a caramel Frappuccino."

He nodded and went to give up our orders, I was checking my phone while he was away and texted Ga Yoon.

Me: I'm having coffee with Jake right now, what are you  up to?

Best friend: I'm at home doing nothing. Let's meet tomorrow, k? Have fun xoxo

Me: Okay just come over whenever, see you later.

I put my phone away and when I looked up someone else than Jake sat in front of me. Kim Namjoon. He smiled at me like it was a normal thing for him to be here, but there was nothing normal about this situation.

"Guess you always meet twice in life, or should I say four times?" I said.

"Yeah right. So what are you doing here?" He asked.

"I should ask you the same thing actually."

Jake came back with our coffees and looked at me and then back at Namjoon who just smiled at him. He didn't seem to regonize him at all.

"Who's that?" Jake asked with a serious look on his face.

"Hey, my name is Ki-" I cut him off because it would be really hard to explain why I know him and who he was.

"Ah that's and old friend of mine, his name is...uh it's Kim Gang Joon."

Im such an idiot. I thought to myself and Namjoon was about to burst out into laughter but I gave him a serious look.

"Oh okay. I'm Jake, nice to meet you."

Namjoon still had this weird expression on his face like he was about to laugh really hard and I was about to laugh too. Jake reached out his hand and Namjoon took it.

"So that's your boyfriend?" Namjoon asked.

"Uh no, he's just a friend and he works at my parents restaurant..."

As I said that Jake looked at me, and his expression was switching to disappointment. I just looked at him and then back at Namjoon. What even is this situation? I excused myself and went to the bathroom to get myself out of this.

Meanwhile

Jake just looked at Namjoon and he thought about what to say to him. Namjoon was just holding in his laughter because she introduced him as an old friend. After a long moment of silence Jake finally said something to the stranger.

"So how do you know her?"

"We met at Hangang." Namjoon said confidently and leaned back in his seat. He took off his sunglasses and grinned at Jake.

"And how exactly...?"

Namjoon couldn't think of a good lie, but luckily Yejin came back from the bathroom. Jake didn't seem like he was amused.

I went back to the boys and I was hoping that Namjoon didn't say anything to Jake. He can't know who he is and how we met. He would be absolutely furious. I saw that Namjoon was about to say something but I cut him off again. It's best if he didn't talk.

"Jake and I need to go now actually, it was nice to see you again. I hope we'll see each other sometime."

I grabbed Jakes wrist and pulled him up from the chair, he grabbed the coffee and followed me outside. I didn't give Namjoon the opportunity to say anything back.

"You can let go now Yejin, why did you even want to go all of a sudden? Is he your ex or something?"

Kim Namjoon, my ex? He wouldn't even be my ex if I was miss Korea. I'm not special enough for someone like him.

"My ex? No no no! He's just and old friend but I wanted to go to my house because I thought it would start raining soon." I immediately noticed how little sense that made.

When I looked up at the sky and saw nothing but sunshine I got nervous. It was the middle of summer, such a bad excuse. Jake just raised one eyebrow and didn't ask any further questions, to be honest I was happy about that. We went to my house and when we arrived there no one was at home, like always. I went straight upstairs and he followed me.

"So what are we doing now that you made us leave?" He asked me.

I just sat on the floor and he sat with his back against mine.

"Let's just stay like this, it's relaxing." I was glad we came here, away from Namjoon.

Jake sighed but stayed in this position. I almost fell asleep like that but then he said something that really shocked me. I couldn't believe my ears.

"I love you, Yejin."
