Harry
I was walking over to where Hazel and Sidney were on the couch, looking like they were having a serious conversation, to tell her that I thought Chloe was ready for bed because she kept rubbing her eyes and was getting fussy. I ended up catching the very end of the conversation, Hazel saying she had to talk to me about it? About what?
"Talk to Harry about what?" I ask, causing them both to jump.
"Umm, just about what we were talking about earlier, before Danielle showed up," Hazel explains quickly.
"Oh I see. Maybe we can talk in a bit then? I think Chloe is tired, she's getting fussy. I'd have put her to bed for you but I wasn't sure what your routine was," I tell her.
"That's sweet," she smiles up at me from her spot on the couch. She held out her hand, signaling for me to take it and pull her up off the couch. "Thanks. I guess you guys really wore her out." She walks over and picks Chloe up.
"Say good night Chloe!" Hazel asks Chloe. Chloe just waves her hand at everyone. We all say goodnight and I follow Hazel and Chloe down the hall to Chloe's bedroom.
"Figured I'd watch your nightly routine if that is alright? That way I could help you out some nights," I suggest. I watch her eyes widen and her bite her lip. She seemed nervous. "Unless you are uncomfortable with that, that's fine." I add quickly, chastising myself for always moving to quickly.
"No, that's not it. I've taken care of Chloe alone for so long that I really don't know how to accept help," she explains, "plus we just started dating, I don't expect you to help or anything." She sets Chloe down on the changing table and starts to change her diaper. Thank goodness it's only pee.
"Babe, I'm here for both of you," I explain to her, stepping behind her and wrapping my arms around her and speaking close to her ear. "I want both of you in my life and I want to take care of both of you."
I see her cheeks move and I know she's smiling. I hug her and kiss the side of her neck.
"Okay. Pajamas are in the third draw down in her dresser, if you want to pick something out?" She asks me and I more than willingly oblige. I step over to the dresser and pick out something cute and pink.
I watch as Hazel finishes up with the diaper change and watch her wet a wash cloth with warm water and wash Chloe's face and hands, leaving a kiss on the tip of her nose and on the backs of each hand. She takes the clothes from me and begins dressing her.
"One foot," she counts, sliding one foot into one pant leg, "two foot." She finished, sliding her other foot into the other pant leg. She carefully slid the pants up over her diaper and continues with Chloe's shirt.
"Where's the baby? Where's Chloe?" She asks, sliding the short over Chloe's head, causing her to giggle once her head was through. After she finished dressing her we all walked out to the kitchen to get a bottle ready.
I watched in fascination as Hazel got a bottle ready with one hand while holding Chloe.
"Did you try breastfeeding?" I ask, cursing myself for asking something so personal and a bit sensitive for some women.
"Yeah, I breastfed for six months but it was hard. Chloe had a really hard time latching on and pumping was a nightmare." She explains, shaking up the bottle.
"Oh I see, maybe it will be easier next time around." I blurt out. "That is, if you want more kids." I add.
"Of course I do," she states smiling at me. I can't help but think of her pregnant with my child... Get a grip Styles, one step at a time.
