Chapter ten

The next day is when Nathaniel's whole family goes over his moms house. Nathaniel asked me to come with him so I did. I decided to wear some black leggings with a white crop top and converse. My hair is curled. On our way to his mom's house, Nathaniel was on his phone as I drove. I wanted him to get off but he didn't.

I entered the house first then Nathaniel. I was greeted by Nathaniel's baby cousin, yasmin. She's a beautiful five year old. She calls me kitty cat because she finds it more entertaining to call me that instead of Catherine. I put her down and greet the rest of Nathaniel's family.

"Take it to Nathaniel to invite his girlfriend to a family get together." Nathaniel's cousin, Jeremy says.

"We're not together." Nathaniel says as he does the classic hand shake with him. A part of me made me.. I don't know, upset? Or even sad that he said that but I'm not sure why.

I go with Nathaniel's mom to see if she needs any help but she's talking with some lady I'm not familiar with. I try to find Nathaniel but he's not in the living room so I go in his old room. There he was with his two cousins. One older, the other is younger.

"There's your girlfriend, Nathaniel." The older one who is leaning against his wall says. Nathaniel is laying on his bed and the other cousin is sitting down on a chair.

"I'm not his girlfriend homeboy." I lay on Nathaniel's bed beside him.

"Friends with benefits then?" The younger one asks. I cock my head up at him and deny it right away.

"I don't do that." I tell them.

"Would you ever?" Nathaniel asks.

"Uh.." I think. "No. I wouldn't."

"Not even with Nathaniel?" The older one asks. I begin to blush.

"Could we not talk about this?" I turn over to my stomach to cover my face and look at the blank wall in front of me.

"She didn't deny it bro!" One cousin says but I don't react to it. All sudden I hear snickering from the two cousins and Nathaniel is holding a smirk.

"What the hell did you tell them?" I ask Nat. He looks at me and tells me to chill.

"Nothing baby, I promise." He gives me a smile. I immediately calm down and don't question him. Baby. He called me baby. My heart began to beat fast. I turn back to face the wall. They continue to snicker but I ignore it. I feel Nathaniel's hand on my lower back.

"Are you tired, Catherine?" He pokes the side of my stomach. I turn over to him to look at him. His arm is supporting his head as he looks at me. He removed his arm from my lower back.

"No, I'm good. I just like your old bed." I give him a small smile and he smiled back at me. Call it weird but I love laying on his bed because it smells just like him and he smells so good. I took out my phone and started to scroll through tumblr.

"You have a belly piercing? Did it hurt?" Nathaniel's older cousin comes close to me and touches my piercing. I look past my phone looking at him examining the piercing.

"Nah not really." I say then look over at Nathaniel. His jaw was tense as he looked at his cousin. His cousin continued to play with it, I was about to tell him to stop until Nathaniel butted in.

"Alright, Leave her alone now stop touching her!" He bites. I'm taken by shock but his cousin does stop and leave me alone. Nathaniel goes onto his elbow and pulls down my shirt to cover my stomach. I don't know what to say so I leave him be. After he lays back down, his mom comes in.

"Catherine, honey, come meet Nathaniel's aunt. She's dying to meet you!" She grabs my hand. I look at nat before she pulls me off the bed.

"I better go out there with her before my family eats her alive." I hear Nathaniel say once his mom pulls me away into the kitchen.
