The sea shimmered under the morning
light when I got here,
quiet except for the sound of water lapping against the shore.
Considering Daniel and I were
the only ones here .
Daniel stood on a narrow stump,
balancing like a bird mid-flight.
His arms moved slow, steady,
the way Mr. Miyagi had shown him.
" Don't fall! "
I called out from the water,
my arms crossed.
Daniel didn't even glance at me.
" Yeah, don't jinx it! "
"Just saying! Your balance isn't exactly
Olympic-level! "
I shout once more before watching him
continuously attempt to balance.
He was getting pretty good at it
I'm not going to lie.

God he is such a dream...

Here I was swimming while Daniel trained over by the stumps, practicing this crane technique thing that was pretty cool.
And from time to time, he'd come the water as swim with me for a short while to cool off.
He's gone back maybe 4 times now.
I watch him from a far jog over to the shore,
deeper to the sea.
Make that 5...
While he was making his way over here,
I couldn't help but think...
That it earned me a grin before he turned serious again, focusing on the crane stance.
I sat on the sand, watching him move.
There was something about
the concentration on his face.
The way the sunlight hit his hair,
the quiet steadiness that made my chest tighten.

There's that weird feeling again...

~ Minutes Later ~

The morning sun still at its peak,
throwing heat over the sand,
making the water glisten.
The waves rolled in and out in a lazy rhythm, brushing over our bare feet.
We've been sitting here for a while,
the humid air passing through,
but neither of us seemed in a rush to leave.
He sat here taking break from trying to practice the crane technique.
It was quite mesmerizing watching him
while I swam not too far.
Now he was crouched by the edge of the surf,
scanning the sand like he was
hunting for treasure.
Daniel stood up, brushing the sand off his trunks. " Mr. Miyagi wants me by the lake later.
You should-uh come.
Could use a trainin' buddy."
I leaned back on my hands,
squinting up at him with a small smile.
" Daniel, I think I've had enough
of any body of water...
I might actually turn into part of the beach. "
The beach was great, don't get me wrong.
But the lake? Again?
In the afternoon?
"Aw, come on,"
He said, grinning.
" It'll be fun. Peaceful, even.
You can sit and make sarcastic comments
while I do all the trainin'. "
" That's... tempting, "
I said.
" But no thanks. I'm staying home. "
I smile at him, hoping he'd kind of persuade me to go without feeling guilty for myself...
Ughhh.
Why aren't I going, you ask?
Believe me. I want to.
But, after what happened
about, maybe a week ago...
When we somehow ended up falling asleep
on the roof outside my room.
I admit it.

I like Daniel LaRusso...

It pains me to say it in my head,
but I fear the more I hangout with him.
The more of these stupid feelings would continue to just grow even more.
More than I could conceal at the moment...

The boy I liked crossed his arms,
acting all offended.
" You're turnin' down quality entertainment
from me? Oh, OH! I'm hurt,
I'm hurt Y/n! "
He flawlessly puts his hands over his chest.
Flaying backwards and collapsed
onto the ground .
I laughed softly.
" You'll live. "
He lifted his head, thinking,
and then that mischievous look appeared
the one that always meant trouble.
" Alright. I- I got an idea. "
Daniel sat up and started digging back
in the sand again.
" What- What are you doing? "
I squint my eyes, dodging the sand almost thrown into my face.
" How about we make it interestin'? "
I groaned immediately
" Every time you say that, it's something stupid. "
" Aw nah, nah. Not stupid. "
he said, fighting back a smile.
" Fun. "
" Same thing. "
I shrugged my shoulders
He crouched down and picked up a small seashell, turning it between his fingers.
" Okay, here's the deal.
If I can skip this seashell let's say,
3 times over there, "
He pointed in the middle of the ocean.
" You have to come to the lake with me later. "
I let myself think about what he just said,
I raised a brow.
" With a seashell?"
" Yeah,"
He nodded Daniel said confidently,
" But if you skip it 3 times, or more,
Then you can stay home. "
He said, already weighing it in his hand.
I thought about it, and it was sweet of him
in my head to come up with
a tiny little bet like that.
But I simply shook my head, and said,
" No... "
" What? Why? "
" Because I said no, Daniel. "
Turning away from him, pretending the cloud above me was more interesting.
" Come on, tell me!
What is it? "
He tried prying it outta me,
but that wouldn't work.
" What, you scared to lose? "
His words hit me, and I look back at him,
laughing as I buried my feet into the sand.
" No? I just don't wanna
do this silly bet, just so I could go with you
to the lake, Daniel. "
I tell him, half-honestly.
" Oh c'mon, Y/n/n. "
He whined, holding up a flat seashell
like it was a prize.
" You gotta admit, this one's a good skimmer."
I shook my head, laughing once more.
" I'm not skipping shells with you, Daniel.
That's how you end up throwing
your shoulder out."
He glanced back at me with mock offense.
" What kind of weak shoulder
do you think I've got? "
" The kind that got slammed into
Johnny last month,"
I teased.
He straightened up, pretending to be insulted.
" That's low, Y/n. "
" Just stating facts, LaRusso. "
I said, smirking. And there was that smile.
A smile that would appear on his face
everytime I used his last name in a sentence.
Call me crazy but I noticed maybe about a couple time now form the past week.
