Reiko
"Rei-chan, are you okay?"
I got back to my senses as Hosuka-chan tapped my shoulder. I was still thinking about last week's incident, especially that nightmare...and also Baa-chan. She gave me a reluctant break after I almost died. I slapped my cheeks a little to get back on track. We were going to do stretch exercises in the soccer field. The sun was shining bright...made me remember that particular morning.
"Yeah. I'm fine...what do you need?"
"Sensei told us to get in pairs so..."
"Oh yeah, of course."
Nakamura Sensei, who was our P.E teacher, blew his whistle. Everyone stopped what they were doing and paid attention to him. He was a little plump, although he was a P.E teacher, and students talked a lot behind his back. He always wore his cap to hide his receding hairline.
"Listen, we'll first warm up and then we're gonna play a soccer match with both girls and boys."
"HEH!!?" Everyone gasped. My eyes widened a little. It had been forever since I played soccer with Nii-san. I didn't get a chance to touch football ever since. One of the boys raised his hand. Nakamura Sensei gestured for him to ask.
"As in boys vs girls?"
"No, we're gonna split two teams and place both parties evenly."
"That's even worse!"
"Hey, do you think we want to play with a bunch of dummies!?"
Both boys and girls started to argue with each other. Nakamura Sensei wiped the sweat from his forehead and blew the whistle again.
"Quiet, please. This is the reason why I want you to play together. Appreciating each other is very important. You'll have to work together to score a goal, and remember, the point is not winning but finding the harmony between your peers." Nakamura Sensei held his hand over his chest and said enthusiastically.
"But Sensei-"
"Shut up, or I'll deduct your marks!"
Everyone fell silent. Nakamura Sensei slicked back his hair and regained his composure.
"Let's warm up fast and sort out for the teams, shall we?"
"Ugh, this is gonna be crazy," Hosuka grumbled.
I didn't say anything after her, but it was enough to see that my face was brightening with excitement. I got to play soccer again after all. It was going to be a breath of fresh air.

"This is a disaster..." I muttered.
Nakamura Sensei sorted us into Red and Blue Teams. We had to tie our designated colored bandanas around our arms. I was in the Red Team, but it didn't matter. Because the boys and girls were literally shouting at each other. Girls couldn't properly dribble and had the ball snatched. Boys couldn't kick in force or pass each other effectively because the girls were standing aimlessly in the field, which led to pure chaos. I helplessly stood in the field and was utterly lost for words. At least Nakumura Sensei seemed to be happy. He was standing by the side and all grinning.
"Harusaki!!!"
Suddenly, a ball rolled in front of my foot. I froze at my place and processed what was happening. A football was in my foot!
"What are you doing!? Pass the ball if you don't know how to play it!" Nakamura Sensei shouted from afar.
All my teammates and opponents were looking at me. Boys were already nervous about getting close to me, which I truly appreciated at that moment. However, I couldn't keep standing like a fricking statue in a field, which made me an easy target. As I thought, Momiji-chan shouted and ran toward me. She was from the Blue Team, of course.
