NAOMI'S POV*****
**
I had squeezed myself through the crowd and halfway through the crowd, I met eyes with the guarded "king Devon" who looked at me the same way he did before as if I was some food to devour. I smiled and waved at the door when I noticed Julia and the girls waving at me for my attention. I caught a glimpse of Devon and he looked disappointed at something.

I pulled Julia aside and pinched her arm,"My mom called, she sounded furious. Julia you promised we will leave as soon as you surpassed the backstage pass. Now this is backstage,  let's go home".

Julia pouted,"Ten minutes, if he doesn't come out by then, we bounce. If he does, you owe me thousand hugs", she smiled.

" Fine, ten".

As if that guy was rooting for Julia, he came out ten minutes later with serious cheering going off in the signing hall. Eventhough he tried to hide it, he looked tired. Who even signs autographs right after a concert, is he on energy pills or what. I started to hug Julia when she eyed me for being wrong. She kept biting my neck each time I hugged her which made me laugh. I smiled at a guy who passed by us and winked at me thinking he was just being nice.

Lisa and Ella were the first in line to get their Devon albums signed and they giggled their way towards us after. Julia and Nicole went next as I just stood there and waited with Lisa and Ella. I noticed Julia and Ella laugh at something Devon said which was not usual. The guy had a dim face, I didn't think he could laugh much less smile. I turned away to listen to something Lisa was telling Ella and I noticed Julia point in our direction from the corner of my eyes. My phone dinged again for thousandth time that day which was starting to piss me off. Julia and Ella kept laughing and blushing with the guy which was also starting to piss me off too.  It was late for crying out loud and we had work the next morning.

They finally joined us after ten minutes and I rushed them out without a glance back. Julia decided to drive us back home which surprised all of us. As soon as we hit the road, Nicole started a conversation which everyone joined in except me.

"What were you girls laughing about with Devon. He looked happy".Lisa asked considering she was the banter kind of babe.

"He called Naomi beautiful", Julia jumped in with a happy squeal. I ignored them and continued to answer my texts.

"And you thought that was funny, I mean. ..look at her". Ella remarked sweetly like always and sank back in her seat.

"Not just that, he also said she looked like Madea in a wrong house who wanted to fly out of there if only she had wings", they laughed as I turned icy, how dare he.

"Atleast he got that right", I put in angrily. I mean it was true I wanted to leave but was it that obvious.

"Don't get cranky Naomi, besides, I'm happy I got to spend my day with y'all. So thank you very much you guys, I had fun". I smiled as the girls awwwed with fun.

"I think Devon likes Naomi", Ella cut in as we all became silent with Julia trying her best not to take her eyes off the road. "Oh come on, you girls witnessed the way he fumbled with his own song lyrics when he saw Naomi. He even said wow out loud".

"Julia don't you dare take your eyes off the road, Ella is just a little over in her head", I warned Julia quickly before she turned. "And you Lisa, don't make me shut that piehole for you, believe me, I will".

"Okay fine, is not like I will forget it if I shut my piehole", Lisa teased again and I frowned at her with a stare down which actually worked. That guy only wowed when he forgot his own lyrics,  that I can assure you, it wasn't any body's fault at all but his.

We dropped off Lisa and Ella at their apartment and Nicole spent the night with us at our apartment since she had her her work dress and things needed for the next day in our place.

We had a fun night talking about patients and movies and a lot of junk food to complete the night. The next morning was just funny, only Julia had a morning shift and she was late. She called in that morning with a headache and Lisa passed her shift for her. A week of drastic work, and passing shifts, patients with down syndrome and killer moles. It had been a week and my dad was still not talking to me because I missed one service.  I decided to visit on the next weekend and it came so fast that I thought it was cheating on God's side.

Julia came with me to our family home on that weekend to have dinner with us and then go back to see her family before we leave back to work the next day. I rang the doorbell twice before my mom came to the door. Julia had made lasagna for the whole family so I didn't have to bring anything. It wasn't thanksgiving or an occasion, it was just dinner.

My mom beamed up with her outstretched arms ready for a hug. I had three siblings,  two older brothers and an older sister. I was the last child and also well the favorite. My dad and I were very close to each other than the rest. He was a good man, he barely opened up to anyone except his family, he was the perfect dad and all, but every silver lining had a dirty surface right. He was controlling, he liked to always be in control even of it meant disowning his own child. He brought us up in a christian home and therefore everything we did or owned had to be a perfection in his eyes and everyone. My siblings were scared of him and would do everything he asked of them. As I was growing up, I realized there had to be a time I had to make my own decisions and make my own living without depending on him or my mom. He chose my siblings spouses for them and even got them married in his church. It was like they had no say in their own future. And when anyone tried to complain, he made sure they remembered  who was in charge.

I went against the rules of my dad and I stopped being his favorite, even till today, he has not forgiven me for choosing pediatrics as my profession and not a lawyer.
