***DEVON'S POV***
******
I felt like a ten year old waiting impatiently for a microphone to express myself as I paced to and fro in my dressing room grinning to myself. I noticed Ryan stealing confused glances at me but said nothing to me. My thoughts were somewhere else, obviously her. What was she gonna wear, who was that special friend she was gonna bring along, what will she look like, jeez is like I was fighting with my mind not to think of her and my inner man fighting for a space for her in there. I just knew I had to see her and my time to come out wasn't even up yet. Honestly, she was the only girl I had ever had the urgent need to see so badly but on the other hand, I just wanted to pretend she meant nothing to me except one of those girls. I didn't want her to think she was messing with my head. That was the one thing I was ready to protect. I've got pride you know.
"You seem to be in some pretty deep thoughts, I hope is not about who I think it is though", Ryan giggled popping a peanut in his mouth.
I turned to look at him smiling like I I had no idea what and who he was driving at,"Who do you think it is then because I'm as clueless as you are", I smiled deviously at him.
"Don't turn this around back to me. You know exactly who I'm talking about. Is very much obvious Diggy. You can't hide anything from me", He said with mischievousness in his voice.
"I need a drink, and stop watching too much movies, is getting into your head", I walked over to the freezer and grabbed a bottle of beer.
"Ha...very funny. Is her isn't it?, you can't seem to figure her out so is driving you crazy right?", he said mockingly when I turned to him,"She got you all wrapped up init..haha", he teased.
Well...on the bright side he was somewhat right. I couldn't figure her out and she did get me all wrapped up because she was different from most of the girls I had been with...even Daisy,"I wish I knew who you were talking about because no girl can confuse or get me wrapped up. I know of one crazy b***** who only gets on my nerves and that's Daisy", I said gulping down my beer.
"Whatever you say man, keep telling yourself that, might believe it someday.....just make sure I don't have to tell you I told you so because I will brother. And for God's sake who drinks a chilled beer before they perform live infront of important people at a function....", Ryan scolded grabbing the beer bottle from me and dropping it in the waste bag.
I sighed smirking at him,"I do", before I could say anything else to piss him off, Bulldog walked in with a stern face,"Is time Diggy. They are calling you out, the guest of honour. I wonder how you got that special request you sneak of a guy", Bulldog emphasized punching my arm. I laughed and threw a nut in his face.
"Well I better go find my special guest for the night and make her stay a memorable one", Ryan got up to leave typing on his phone.
I don't know what happened but I heard myself warn Ryan,"Becareful what you wish for bro, I pick sides when I'm in deep", I smirked at him.
"If I know any better I think you just warned me indirectly to stay away from you..know...who", he laughed with bulldog and then left the room with right behind him hands in my pockets.
The hotel the function was happening inside was big enough to occupy any number of people, even pointing them out easily. To be honest, I did every research I could on her, even hired a private investigator to monitor her lifestyle which was a little creepy at first but i shrugged it off. I didn't know why I thought knowing her was important but I just wanted to. Her favourite hangouts, her favourite colour, her favourite flowers, ice cream flavours, it wasn't normal, how could a girl so vulnerable, looks like an easy pray but yet still complicated and perfect. Her schedule was like her everyday routine so taking a wild guess on how she was at my concert in the first place, was only if she was doing a favour or she was threatened.
"Thank you for making it tonight, this means a lot to the Darlyn family. Before dinner proceeds, there was a request made for an entertainment moment from Devon. I know we all know who Devon is he.... I mean.... He is the Devon. The hottest man on Bachelor front pages three times in a row....haha", Mrs. Janice, the host, laughed making the function attendants laugh followed with a clap,"Ladies and gentleman, our one and only, Devon Diggy Darlyn".
I could hear loud cheers and claps as I grabbed the microphone after sharing a close greeting with Mrs. Janice. She was a sight that woman. I turned away from her for a second only to spot Ryan talking to some people. I was about to look away when I saw her. On the far end of an empty seat next to Bulldog was her, Naomi, staring blankly at a menu and sipping a glass of water. She was a sight to behold, and her dress looked like it was made just for her. They weren't that far from the stage and like I was in some kind of luck, she was on my table. I guess she didn't take a look at the reserved name print on the glassy table or someone told her that was her seat. I smiled proudly and cleared my throat as I carefully walked to the stage and took a seat.
She didn't look at me once the whole time I did the song and that almost killed me. Everyone else sang along, even old people, but she just focused on that damn menu. I picked a common song which i had written some months back for how it will feel like falling in love because I had never experienced it before. The song described the kind of woman I wanted and needed and like clockwork, I met her eyes in a split second and she looked away. Through the whole song she only looked up twice to laugh at something Ryan said and that was it.
I finished the song beautifully and the applause and thank yous cleared that part up thankfully.I said hi to a few knowing faces and rushed over to my table. The girls I was sure I had seen before were the girls from the concert who were right next to Naomi were. I winked at them and smirked at Ryan who eyed me. As if the universe knew what I wanted, the seat next to Naomi was empty. I was wondering why Ryan was flirting with the other girls when he was all over Naomi earlier. She ignored me completely even when I cleared my throat and sat next to her. She was still looking through the menu with interest and smiling to herself. She was just not my type of girl so thinking about her these past few days wasn't normal to me.
