Don't Judge A Flower By Its Color

My first featured poem: I wrote this poem based on the quotes "Don't judge a book by its cover" and "Don't judge a movie by its book". I'm trying to say that sometimes people who are beautiful on the outside get all the attention from people {limelight}. Yet, not all of them are beautiful on the inside. The wilting flower with sweet nectar represents a person with beauty on the inside, but his/her appearance may not be appealing to others. The main message of this poem is to get to know a person before giving them a label.

The wilting flower

Seems to cower

In front of the rose

Who soaks up the sun

And has all the fun

The one who hogs the limelight

Because it’s so bright

With all the vivid, iridescent colors

Some roses have a thorn

Yet few look upon it with scorn

Why does this situation feel so forlorn?

From the dried up flower, sweet nectar oozes out

And without a single doubt

What’s on the inside

Matters more than what is on the outside

Don’t be pricked by superficial beauty
