Alexandra Patricia 'Alex' Morgan number 13 and forwardfor the USWNT was nervous.....
Now what was she nervous about, you may ask...she was nervous about coming back
She has came back from injuries before, but this time was different. She was coming back from a knee injury, and knew she was still not strong enough yet to play a full 90 minutes, so she would probably wait another week or two. The trainers would tell the forward that.
She walked into the hotel the team was staying at and found Jill......
Jill said after they hugged "Welcome back Alex." Alex smiled and replied "Thanks Jill. Good to be back." "how's the ankle?" Jill asked calmly, looking at her ankle. Alex replied "Stronger. I've been cleared to run, but only jogging. No sprinting yet until you guys say so." Jill nodded and hugged Alex whispering "We missed you, 13." That made Alex smile, so after getting her room and learning she was rooming with Lori, she walked in to her room and was bombarded by people hugging her. She set her stuff down and Lori said "That's your bed." She nodded and fell onto it. She felt the bed dip down, so she opened her eyes and found her fellow forward, Abby Wambach, number 20 sitting next to her. Abby asked "How was the flight?!" "Good. Quiet." Abby nodded and said "We get to relax today, and we have training tomorrow. Lori can tell you more." Nodding at Lori who was sitting on her own bed.
After Abby left, Lori sat next to her and asked "How's the ankle?" "Right now, it's sore from walking." Lori nodded, and grabbed a pillow from the bed elevating Alex's ankle and saying "Dinner at 7, curfew at 12, breakfast at 8, practice at 10-3, and lunch in between. Someone is catering." Alex nodded and Lori said "Is your ankle okay? Do you need anything like ice, pain meds?" "Ice." Alex replied while sitting up against the headboard.
Lori got ice from the trainers and gently set it on the forward's ankle, noticing her dozing off. She went over and whispered "Go to sleep, kiddo." Alex fell asleep, her head falling onto her chest so Lori set an alarm on her phone for 6:00, which would give Alex about a 2 hour nap.
Time Skip: 2 hours later
Alex Morgan felt herself being shaken awake, so she lifted her head and opened her eyes to a smiling Lori who said "hey sleepy head." "hey." She sat up and swung her legs over the bed doing her ankle exercises from PT to keep her ankle strong. She finished them and told Lori "My mom would never let me eat dinner unless I did these." She laughed and stood up straight and grabbed her jacket, key, phone, and her pain Meds for emergencies. She walked with Lori, and as they entered the elevator Alex leaned her ankle against the wall and asked "How was your flight here?" "Good." She nodded, and they soon got to the lobby and walked to the room where dinner was. She walked in and got dinner and her teammates yelled " ALEX!!" Tobin and Kelley ran to her. Luckily, Lori saw it and grabbed Alex's plate while her 2 best friends hugged her, and she stumbled wincing as she felt her ankle pain. They got her to a seat and Lori set her plate down noticing her wincing and grimacing slightly. She asked quietly "You okay?" "Pain." Lori said "Then take a pill." Alex nodded and reached into her pocket to take the pill bottle out. She opened it and got a pill and quickly took it. Lori rubbed her shoulder.
Time skip: Morning before practice, examination
Alex sat on the table with her ankle out as they touched it and asked her questions and finally they asked "Are you still on pain medication?" Alex replied "Yes." The trainer said "No clearance until after off of it, so no soccer, just jog and do exercises."
Alex nodded
Time skip: 1 month later
She was off pain Meds and cleared to pain. Alex walked onto the field and looked at her ankle which had a brace on it. She smiled before taking the brace off and suddenly she heard "Well, well. Look who's back." She turned around and saw her teammate and fellow forward, Sydney Leroux. She ran to her and hugged her, saying "Hey Sydney." They did some passes and then practice began.
Time skip: game time
Alex got ready and did her routine but she glanced at the brace on her ankle before putting on her socks and shoes.
She was back.......for good, hopefully.
